About this deal

Eric was still new at the time, and now there was a new guitarist, Vinnie Vincent. How did they affect the sound of the band? We were coming out of a coma. I think we suddenly realized how much we had veered away from what the band started as and what we believed in. We had really become complacent and more concerned with enjoying some vapid rewards of success than making great music and staying true to our roots. We were stumbling around, and suddenly, I think we just found ourselves going, “What the hell are we doing here? And look what we’re on the verge of losing.” Larkin, Colin (2006). They also included a replica tour book which is great because this is one of the tour books I am missing from my collection as it is quite pricey. I am not going to show every picture as we have enough so far…what is cool about the book is of course the tank, but it is the fact this was the band’s 10th Anniversary Tour. After all that had gone on with the band, it is hard to believe at this point it was only 10 years. THE REST: For Creatures, you wrote a bunch of songs with Adam Mitchell from The Paupers, among other things. A guy who was best known at the time for writing songs for Olivia Newton-John might have seemed like a surprising choice for your collaborator. How did that partnership come about, and what was your working dynamic like? Kiss: Album Guide". Rolling Stone. Archived from the original on June 27, 2011 . Retrieved September 4, 2011.

The final thing that this anniversary set could do without is the sound effects that are at the very bottom of the record. From the “Tank Start Of Show,” or “Firehouse Siren (Tour Sound Effect)” it is just silly and unnecessary to add it to the record. It’s just random and awkward sitting at the end of the record and takes up space from potentially other music being added. All in all, I did not like this add-on to the record. Additionally, the Super Deluxe box features an extensive array of bonus kollectible KISS memorabilia and ephemera, including: Kent, David (1993). Australian Chart Book 1970–1992 (illustrateded.). St Ives, N.S.W.: Australian Chart Book. ISBN 0-646-11917-6. Little did the fans know that during the recording sessions for “Dynasty” and the follow-up record, 1980’s “Unmasked,” that drummer Peter Criss was not showing up to recording sessions and that session musicians were recording Criss’s drum takes which resulted in guitarist Paul Stanley, bassist Gene Simmions and guitarist Ace Frehley to fire Criss prior to the European leg of the Unmasked tour. On The Go

One of the really fun things on this set is those tour sound effects: the tank, the turbine, the siren, the bells, and the flames. Can you explain how some of those things fit into the show at the time?

It has been speculated that the original 1982 cover was modeled after the 1979 children's book, I Can Read About Creatures of the Night. [19] In the early days of KISS 1972 -73, there was a band on the same New York circuit by the name of "Creatures of the Dark" the members dressed as characters from the Universal Monster Film Series; Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster and the Mummy.Maybe, for some, how serious we take what we do, and that it’s not one-dimensional and not done lightly. We work at things, plan them, and try different things, and it’s an all-consuming endeavor. We don’t take what we do lightly, ever. We don’t like things to look labored over, but they’re labored over. Kiss (1982). Creatures of the Night (LP Sleeve). New York City, New York: Casablanca Records. NBLP 7270. Creatures of the Night was certified gold by the RIAA on May 9, 1994. [27] It was certified gold in Brazil in 1983 for sales of 100,000 copies. [32] a b Smith, Robin (December 18, 1982). The band released a video for "I Love It Loud," which received moderate airplay on MTV. In it was a stage set up that featured Carr's drum kit as a giant metallic tank with an exploding turret. Flames and explosions were also in abundance. Frehley did appear in the video as the rhythm guitarist, with Stanley shown playing the seven-note solo. On Friday, Nov. 18, the “hottest band in the world,” Kiss remastered and re-released their 1982 record titled “Creatures of the Night” for the 40th anniversary.bit Dolby Atmos / *48kHz 24-bit Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround / 96kHz 24-bit High-Resolution PCM Stereo Demos and Outtakes – Comes in cardboard digipak that replicates the Master Reel boxes of the original Creatures demos. (2 discs) - I really enjoyed hearing the outtakes, especially the Feel Like Heaven Demos. Including the 4 Killers songs on the set was also a nice touch as these recording are basically the beginnings of the Creatures of the Night sound. Very much so. We were about as down as we could be, and the only way out was up. So, the idea that we had nobody to answer to in terms of what kind of album we made…it felt exhilarating. It felt freeing and very creatively life-affirming. To write those kinds of songs felt really genuine because it was a part of us that we had missed for so long and didn’t even realize it. Like I said, before we started the album, it was kind of like waking up from a coma; you’re fuzzy-headed and thinking, “What the hell happened?” So, we knew what we wanted to do, and we were determined to do it. a b Sharpe-Young, Garry; Reynolds, Dave (2009).
