In the TV movie, Predacons Rising, Ultra Magnus is left in command while Optimus goes to retrieve the Allspark. When investigating the Sea of Rust with Smokescreen, they come across two Predacons, Skylynx and Darksteel. Magnus tries to fight off Skylynx, but is brutally beaten by him, and barely escapes with Smokescreen's help. He spends the rest of the movie under Ratchet's medical attention. He is however seen, still on a medical chair, when Optimus sacrifices himself for Cybertron's restoration with the AllSpark. Accessories: Large robot head, rifle, chest plate, trailer connector/waist plate, 2 small robot fists (left & right), 2 missile launchers, 4 missiles Here he is, hauling SS86 Hot Rod, Arcee, Jazz and Earthrise Cliffjumper. Even if one of the cars was a minibot, the fact that Magnus can actually haul 4 cars at once is just the icing on the cake for me. This is all I ever wanted: CHUG Ultra Magnus with the proper G1 alt mode and capacity to carry 4 Deluxe cars. Took a while to get there, but the end result was worth all the time and money I spent :') Though Optimus's wave was scheduled for a first quarter 2015 release, it arrived on U.S. store shelves in late 2014. He was released with Skywarp as part of the "Battle for Autobot City" set. He was also available in Woolworth stores throughout the United Kingdom.
Shining Magnus was one of two exclusive redecos released in the wake of the 2000 reissue of the original Ultra Magnus toy. Limited to only 800 pieces, it was available only at the 20th Century Toy Museum toy show, held on December 26, 2000 at the Mitsukoshi Department Store in Yokohama, Japan. The toy is sometimes known as "Matrix Glow Magnus" amongst collectors, or less favorably, "Urine Magnus". He and the last three waves of Combiner Wars Deluxe and Voyager figures later showed up in the U.S. at TJ Maxx at reduced prices.
