When active noise cancellation is turned on, it may weaken the perception of the surrounding sound and environment. Turn on this function in a safe environment. We do need to point out one thing that some could consider an elephant in the room, though we don’t. On paper, the Honor 70 doesn’t seem too different from its predecessor, the Honor 50. (What happened to the 60? No idea.)

If imitation be the sincerest form of flattery, Honor had some very nice things to say about Apple's AirPods Prowhen fashioning the Earbuds 3 Pro.It's alarming how similar the two propositions look, side by side. We streamed music from Tidal and Apple Music from our iPhone, Samsung's Galaxy S22 and the Honor Magic 4 Pro. The bass floor through Stormzy's Vossi Bop and Dave's PSYCHODRAMA is deeper, snappier and more impactful through the Honor earbuds. Vocals sound more expressive too; Dave's lamenting, brooding lyrical stylings shine that bit brighter thanks to the extra ounce of texture and realism that the Honor earbuds are able to unearth. The soundstage is a touch more expansive across the frequencies, too, although that is a more closely-run race. Ultimately, it's the extra detail – the cleaner leading edges of notes, the emotive quality of vocals –that makes the Honor Earbuds 3 Pro the clear winner across the course of our listening. In terms of video, the handset records at up to 4K on the rear camera and 1080p on the front one - again there are quite a few modes for this, like Multi-Video, which records on multiple cameras at once, and the new Solo Cut.The charging data comes from the HONOR lab. After the earbuds are power off due to low power, put them into a fully charged charging case, and close the case cover, charge them for 5 minutes, and then take them out. Turn off active noise cancellation and connect them to the mobile phone to play AAC-encoded music at 50% volume until the earbuds are fully discharged. The actual usage time varies depending on conditions such as volume, sound source, environment, and usage habits. The call noise reduction performance comes from the HONOR lab, and the actual performance varies depending on the factors such as the surrounding environment and terminal. Why the swift about-turn? Well, Honor previously claimed its AI temperature algorithm had an 80 per cent chance of achieving a ±0.3 Celsius or less error within a lab setting; however, the actual margin of error may vary depending on the individual and environment –and to give credit where credit's due, the company always said the product should not be used for medical purposes. Earbuds X3 Lite are non-professional water-resistant earbuds, able to withstand splash, water, and dust in normal state, and tested in controlled laboratory conditions to reach IPX4 water resistance rating. The protection from splash and water is not permanent, and may be reduced due to daily wear. You’ll get the latest Bluetooth 5 standard, ensuring a reliable connection with smartphones and other Bluetooth devices, and we didn’t have any dropout issues during several days of testing. As with the Apple AirPods, audio will pause when taking a bud out of your ear too.

Honor has made much of the inclusion of active noise-cancelling, which aims to soften outside sounds and help listeners hear intended audio that bit more clearly. However, the specs list doesn’t actually do justice to the user experience, and the Honor 70 feels like a step up in all departments. The cameras are noticeably better, and the phone feels faster than its older relative.
The 2MP cameras are the real weak links though, and there’s a trend of phone companies including low-res auxiliary cameras like this that don’t add much. We found macro pictures to be grainy and pixelated, and the depth sensor didn’t seem to add anything that wasn’t already present in the standard lens view.
