The monitor has some pretty cool functions, a lot of settings you can change and play with. Also a bonus having all the smart apps, I don't particularly need them as I have a smart TV, but it would be cool if they made an option with out these features too, so it could be made cheaper for people who do not want or need these features. Most of the display’s modes produce oversaturated colors, which I personally quite liked. Doom Eternal and Cyberpunk 2077 benefit greatly since both have colorful worlds. In Standard mode, the display covered 183.3% of the sRGB color gamut and 129.9% of the more demanding DCI-P3 color space (closer to 100% is best), with a Delta-E value of 0.12 (closer to 0 is ideal). We saw these values across most of the available display modes. The OLED G8 does not require calibration. It is so close to spec that I could not realize any gain in visual quality or measured values with any of the provided adjustments. I can’t do justice to how gorgeous games look on this monitor. This form factor is basically equivalent to two 24.5″ 2560×1440 displays side by side – just without the bezels in between them. So, you get a high 119.52 PPI (pixels per inch) for sharp details and text. However, if you work with a lot of text, you might find it bothersome. You can use Better ClearType and Mac/FreeType to alleviate this issue in some applications.

The Odyssey OLED G8’s built-in speakers are decent enough, but I wouldn’t want to use them as my primary speakers when using this monitor.For the best HDR results on the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8, we recommend using the ‘Custom’ Picture Mode and making sure ‘Game Mode’ and ‘Peak Brightness’ options are enabled. ‘Game HDR’ should be disabled and ‘HDR10+ Gaming’ set to ‘Advanced.’ We know now as well that the screen will offer 1x Mini DisplayPort 1.4 , USB type-C (DP Alt mode and power delivery not confirmed yet) and Micro HDMI 2.1 connectivity although we’re not sure how many of the latter will be included. The screen does not use a Native NVIDIA G-sync module like Dell’s screen does, allowing for support of these alternative video interfaces, including HDMI 2.1. Whether or not this has an impact on gaming experience and VRR performance is not yet clear. The screen is certified under the AMD FreeSync Premium scheme though. While the speakers can get fairly loud without distortion, everything sounds too thin and tinny — which can become grating over time. You’re better off using one of the best wireless headphones instead.
