About this deal

All in all, it's an easy cooler to install, and an extra positive is that it can be installed in any orientation, which is helpful when trying to avoid impeding on your other components. The idea of a rapid beverage cooler was born in the summer of 1992 as Greg Loibl completed his undergraduate studies from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. To fulfill his chemical engineering masters thesis, Greg Loibl designed, built and tested a prototype device that proved a beverage in a standard 12 ounce aluminum can could be chilled from room temperature (25°C/77°F) to drinking temperature (5°C/40°F) in under 45 seconds. It takes approximately three minutes to chill a beverage in a 12 ounce bottle with Loibl’s prototype. In contrast, it takes several hours to chill a beverage in a refrigerator and an hour in a freezer. The process (The Cooper Cooling Process™) is protected under US patents No. 5,505,054, No. 6,662,574 and No. D475,895. The first patent (5,505,054) was filed in August 1994 and issued on April 9th, 1996. The inventors are Greg Loibl, and his co-advisors, Irv Brazinsky and George Sidebotham, both tenured Cooper Union faculty members. It's amazing how high wattage can support so small cooler. That said, before going any further, let's take a closer look at the specifications before torturing this tiny cooler on the test bench.

Because the beverage is rotated, not shaken. It is not simple to explain, as it involves scientific concepts such as solubility, Henry’s law and nucleation, among others. Because of marketing BS design noise profile is rough and restless with frequency spikes in it at all speeds. Revolutionary Cooling Systems, Inc. was founded in October 1996 by Greg Loibl and George Sidebotham. Since then, the development of the beverage cooler has utilized many ambitious Cooper Union students. The students work on the project to earn credit towards their degree. They have made contributions in; 1) research, 2) engineering and design, 3) quality testing. What CPU Sockets Does a Given Cooler Support?

At least predecessor NH-U12P's NF-P12 was only crap in that horrible vibration with noise profile being mostly good.

base plate and that big gap and it wobbles a lot when you stand it up is not good, but is this how coolers are?? i understand that most 3rd gen ryzens have a convex ihs but the pressure of the cooler combined with a good quality application of thermal paste will negate that issue, if your not familiar with lapping a cpu i wouldn't recommend at all doing such a thing, it all very well following guides but if you go too far your screwed. looking at nzxt aio cooler as 1st gen with 5 years warranty and base plate looks to be 1 whole piece of copper rather than 4 copper pipes thats been roughly made smooth with 1 pass of a lathe machine of some sort.... As we found out, the Rasetsu is 4°C more effective when the heat pipes are oriented horizontally (the right photo) rather than otherwise (the left photo) although the convex CPU cap may have influenced the results. Anyway, we installed the cooler so that its heat pipes were horizontal for our tests.

Sizing Up CPU Coolers: Will My Cooler Fit?

Due to the use of copper, the heatsink is extremely heavy for the size at 640 g. While the weight is not surprising considering the material choice, it does have added benefits, of which one is a stiffer, stronger design. The fins themselves feel solid with very little flex, and as a result, I found none of them bent upon initial inspection. Other benefits of copper include the ability for it to absorb more heat than aluminium. However, while that is true, aluminium tends to absorb and dissipate heat faster.

The Rasetsu can be installed without taking the mainboard out of the system case and without using any tools. Featuring the Versatile Tool-Free Multiplatform System, it can be mounted easily on the CPU. First, you insert the fasteners into the cooler’s bottom heatsink.Since it was extremely hot outside and we also had a top cooler participating in our today’s test session, we ran all tests inside a system case with a removed side panel. here is our testbed configuration: Remember that, all else being equal, more fans equals better cooling, but more noise. The coolers that do the best job of moving warm air away from your CPU and out of your case are also often the loudest. If fan noise is an issue for you, you’ll want a cooler that does a good job of balancing noise and cooling. If you can set your cooler's fan speeds based on temperatures in your motherboard's BIOS, that should also help. The second revision of the Scythe Mugen 2 cooler (SCMG-2100) was released quite a long time ago but we haven’t been able to get a sample to test until now. The box is designed in such a way that your eye focuses on the letter B which denotes the new revision.
