About this deal

Very off-the-wall things going on all the time to the point of extreme, but I guess that's what is was supposed to be.

the "last hurrah" of the silent era during a mesmerizing sequence in which various films are being shot in tandem, practically right next door to each We almost don’t know how to react Chazelle’s more ‘explosive’ anatomical gross-outs, or how to understand what he wants to achieve. The elephant sequence and the vomiting sequence are pretty intolerable. That first four minutes of elephant slime play like an Audience Test, as if Chazelle were daring people to walk out. Nellie’s projectile vomit on Hearst’s rug far outdoes that of Linda Blair. What fun! Hooray for Hollywood! * For those not familiar with the details regarding Ultra HD Blu-ray you can refer to my article that includes some pertinent data on the subject. Here is the link: indulgent mayhem as possible. Babylon oozes sexuality, sensuality, and plenty of soulless satisfaction. It gazes, intently and intensely, on the full dynamic of the moviemaking process, especially for those unaccustomed to accounting for it. Gone was the almost "anything goes" flair ofWell, as much as we’re prone to overstate our arguments, Babylon is not that bad, just close. Staying level-minded is difficult when watching the expensive, three-hour epic . . . the only good strategy is to regroup and repeat the magic word, ‘restraint.’ I’ve seen writer-director Chazelle talk on camera, and he sounds both sane and thoughtful. accurate. Certainly, in some of the darker scenes, especially in the first act where warm lights and shadowy corners define the look of the party, the BABYLON follows an ambitious cast of characters — The Silent Film Superstar (Brad Pitt), the Young Starlet (Margot Robbie), the Production Executive (Diego Calva), the Musical Sensation (Jovan Adepo) and the Alluring Powerhouse Performer (Li Jun Li) — who are striving to stay on top of the raucous, 1920s Hollywood scene and maintain their relevance at a time when the industry is moving on to the next best thing. Please Note: Paramount Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray I reviewed in this Post. The opinions I share are my own. Disc Rating: 8/10 – ‘Babylon’ Arrives Home on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray & DVD March 21, 2023 & is Now Available on Digital from Paramount Home Entertainment As for the discs, we’ve got the 4K release, a Blu-ray disc and a second Blu-ray disc that houses the film’s extras. There’s also a digital copy of the film inside as well.

The film has an ‘R’ rating, and the roughest it gets is some flashes of simulated sex at the orgies. Random breasts are flashed in mastershots so crowded with action that we don’t know where to look or what’s important. Babylon’s English Dolby Atmos mix is one of the better mixes you will hear. It is not necessarily aggressive in placing solid effects in the height channels and using plenty of motion, but it is very spacious, dynamic, and atmospheric. The height awareness is strong, especially in party scenes where the jazz band and partygoers fill the soundstage. Low end is big when need be, like the “boom-da-boom” of the drums or the explosions in the scenes of on-location filming of battle sequences. The Supplements Scoring Babylon – If you thought costumes didn’t get a lot of time, the film’s score gets less than two minutes in this featurette! A sprawling paean to the indulgent early days of Hollywood that is visually lavish and filled with superb performances. The 4K Ultra HD disc from Paramount is a release that will stun in your home theater. Recommended. The main characters in this overhyped fantasy are ‘adapted’ from recognizable historical models, with an eye toward racial diversity.Babylon comes to Blu-ray Disc from Paramount Home Entertainment featuring 1080p AVC encoded video and Dolby Atmos/TrueHD 7.1 channel sound. Manny is clearly moved beyond tears. We feel like someone’s thrown a pie in our faces. The real movie we just saw is about people screaming m_____f______ and f____, with the only message being that Hollywood is s___. of the raucous, 1920s Hollywood scene and maintain their relevance at a time when the industry is moving on to the next best thing.

This is primarily a dialog driven film however there are elements in the film that require use of the entire system so its ability to clearly render them is essential. Dialog is reproduced with transparent realism and lucid texture as it is appropriately balanced within the front soundstage. The 7.1 channel surround mix utilizes the entire platform to recreate the many acoustic sounds associated with the environments portrayed onscreen. The surrounds contain a mixture of spatial ambience/musical extension as well as directional panning cues that effectively support the front soundstage. Man, I don’t know. I like the period chosen to tell the story of these characters. There is certainly ample room to generate a multifaceted plot to encompass this critical period in Hollywood, while giving us palpable drama regarding the struggles they faced in the process. I feel like Chazelle went overboard in his efforts to paint a picture of the extravagance, depravity and unincumbered excess, that would eventually derail the lives of those who fell prey to the wiles of unbridled fame/wealth in Hollywood at that time.external sight and sound of extremes. Still, even if some of the character arcs are less than original, the parts are played well, with Robbie in One cannot talk Babylon without talking about its excess and, indeed, its extreme excess. In some ways the film brings to mind The Wolf of Wall Street, certainly a film in a whole different league in
