About this deal

In between – and sometimes during – the moments of chaos that surround her large family, Huntley can often be seen dashing to her computer or scribbling with whatever writing implements are on hand—lipstick or eyebrow pencil on an ATM receipt is fair game. They're too many (eight kids) and those morons never heard about birth control so Sam will be in SERIOUS trouble if she fraternizes with the enemy. Tim doesn’t have an easy life but he was a good example for a lot of young guys that are totally lost and don’t know what to do with their lifes.

You could see that he saw that he was going down the wrong path and he knew that and wanted to improve his way of living.

With three-dimensional characters with their own quirks, a sweet, gentle romance and a great story line with a shocking twist that causes the characters to really re-evaluate the choices they have made in their life. I'm sure Sam wants to know why her friend is so confused and why she needs to run away so desperately but wait. Samantha is rich and beautiful, and viewed as the girl who has it all, yet her life isn't as perfect as it seems.

Sure, the book had a pretty decent and sweet plot in following the protagonist Samantha Reed on her journey of first love. At the end, I felt like I’d been deprived of that opportunity as the book purely focused on the relationship between Sam and Jase. I couldn't stop reading My Life Next Door, I literally just sat the whole day and read and couldn't put it down. Before I started reading, I expected it to be a reasonably thin, fluffy and light novel that I would enjoy but not feel quite so moved by. Thus, Sam cannot help but gaze wistfully at her neighbors, the Garretts, who have eight children, seem to be broke, and yet have all the happiness in the world. My Life Next Door is everything I want from a YA contemporary novel: a close-knit American town setting; a realistic and believable romance; a supportive and loving family (especially toddler George! The only aspect that I felt should have been explored much more was Samantha’s unease over her mother’s Republican politics.

To this day, some things remain constant in Huntley's life: her love of family, salt air, summer and beaches and a shaky grasp of math. Their thoughts, their feelings, their actions were all so understandable and they developed so much throughout the book.A story that will make you dream and believe that everything is possible in this world if you find your Jase. Samantha is faced with doing the right thing when she realizes that her mother has affected the Garrett family in which she has become a pseudo-member. Also I loved how he was there for his siblings, for his parents, and I loved how he kept fighting for his dreams (figuratively speaking) even though there were such slim chances for them to come true. My Life Next Door is a really enjoyable book and is perfect for when you need something light to read, such as when you’re in an exam period or have a lot of work to do! The paperback was published by Speak, another imprint of Penguin Random House, almost a year later on 13 June 2013.
