About this deal

There is a real problem with the quality of rubber components for classic cars at the moment, I've had steering rack boots that have split in just over a year and a vacuum pipe connector that hasn't lasted 8 months. Assuming it's an RC40 (I wouldn't know, it looks like it could be though) would this kit contain all the bits I'd need? I'm not sure what would have happened if it weren't a bobbin, maybe torn the whole thing out the body?

The key to getting a reasonable life out of them was to set them up so that there is minimal strain on the bobbin. You can actually tune the stiffness of it all my tightening the nyloc nut to adjust the compression of the bushes. Yep as every body has said the very rear should have 2 of those rubber bobbins at the rear with preferably a metal bar bewteen the two that they hang from this metal bar then just screws directly to the subframe! Also if anyone knows the part number and a good supplier in the UK or Europe it would be very much appreciated.I planned to sandwich each of the 26mm wide rubber bushes between 25mm M8 stainless penny washers to distribute the load evenly. Thanks, I have 4 now of slightly different sizes but all fit ok, it's amazing how hard they are to get hold of around my way.

In reality I don't think it would make much difference as if you look at the pictures both the exhaust and chassis brackets are as wide as the washers. or rather, the usual once in a while glance over the whole car showed it to be perishing, so I swopped it. It might be something to think about though I still can't quite work out how it happened in the first place. muxh free movement available that this would mean moving beyond the point where the original bobbin would have been badly damaged anyway).I've got both mounts installed - front and rear of main silencer, Using a Powerspeed unit for the last 12 or so years. The imperial size may have been true at one point but many motor factors now supply these with a metric thread and nuts to suit (certainly Halfords does).
