Funny enough I don’t think I’ve really read any art memoirs except that a couple of weeks ago I read Marc Chagall’s memoir. A breathtakingly intimate journey, we are led across deserts, oceans and cities to explore extreme highs and lows, all the while marvelling at how Abramovic approaches every success and setback with her signature humour and wit. From her early childhood, she explains her upbringing and really installs a feeling of sympathy from the word go. But once during a German advance she came down with typhus, and was lying unconscious among the badly wounded, with a high fever and completely covered by a blanket.
