Followed your instructions, (very easy to follow) and but for a reluctant disconnect on the hard drive, piece of cake. If your box is out of its 2 year guarantee you might be on your own unfortunately, unless you want to get into DIY solder reflow ovens! This is the first box I've had since my original Humax 9200T which records everything asked of it without complaint. The YouView EPG that allows you scroll forward and backwards in time, which is one of the great selling points of the service.

I will take the TV off the wall and attach a hard drive so the wife can pause, rewind etc and hook the skybox back up for watching Freeview and she then has options for recording and watching another channel. As the file system itself is not encrypted on these models, one is at least able to access the files themselves if necessary, even if they are encrypted. It does work if you run into problems, but be warned in cases can totally jam your box if a hardware fault. They will all receive the update when it is their boxes turn, or on the first day of release if you attempt to manually update, before the end of the day, on the day of the release.I just question how good these small boxes are when compared to the size of the sky box which tend to be pretty bullet proof.

It’s only a shame that text entry is still so clunky, relying on the number keys; there’s no way to use the YouView app to enter text as you can with an Apple TV. And, yes, once you’ve got to the Maintenance mode screen and selected Software Reset you do have to suffer a few minutes with a blank screen!You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.
