About this deal

Neil Young’s 1972 essential Harvest has received the special treatment for its 50th (plus a few months) anniversary. Also included are three unreleased tracks from the original Harvest sessions: “Bad Fog of Loneliness,” “Journey Through The Past,” and “Dance Dance Dance. That's not the real Neil' spat a Neil Young superfan when I mentioned that 'Harvest' was my favourite Neil Young album. Neil Young announces the December 2nd release of a 50th Anniversary Edition of his 1972 album ‘Harvest’.

In terms of bonus audio, Young’s much-bootlegged February 23 BBC In Concert is included on CD and vinyl in the respective packages and three Harvest outtakes are also made available in physical form for the first time. This should be amazing as it captures the making of the album from start to finish and was directed by Neil Young and his film crew in 1971. One of the most iconic and influential albums ever, Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon celebrates its 50th Anniversary. The 50th Anniversary Edition will be released on triple-vinyl and triple-CD, both of which features the original album; a disc of three studio outtakes from the original ‘Harvest’ sessions (‘ Bad Loneliness’, ‘ Journey Through The Past’ and ‘ Dance Dance Dance’); and an unreleased live BBC solo performance.CD3 - "Harvest" Outtakes was recorded by Elliot Mazer at Quadrafonic Sound Studios in Nashville, Tennessee on February 6th, April 4th and February 7th respectively, 1971. Also seen are sessions with the London Symphony Orchestra, creating the full sounds we get to hear on “Maid” and “There’s A World,” studio time with legendary Nashville DJ Scott Shannon, and more than enough extended jam sessions to satisfy the most hardcore of Neil Young fans.

Harvest is housed in a Stoughton tip-on jacket which has a matte texture on the outside and a high-gloss finish on the inside. All songs ©1971 Silver Fiddle Music (ASCAP), except "A Man Needs a Maid," "Old Man" and "The Needle and the Damage Done" ©1971 Broken Fiddle Music (ASCAP).If there is a certificate we’ve missed out on then it’s probably for a 50 metre swim badge at the local swimming baths. Neil Young’s most popular album, 1972’s Harvest, will be reissued for its 50th anniversary in December. Neil Young will reissue Harvest for its 50th anniversary, adding a previously unreleased documentary and concert film, three outtakes from the sessions, and more. The 50th Anniversary Edition Box Sets will be released December 2, 2022 on Vinyl and CD, boasting the original album, three studio outtakes on CD/7” vinyl, an unreleased live 1971 BBC solo performance on CD, LP and DVD. The first is Harvest Time, an unreleased two-hour film shot during the making of Harvest, with footage from Young’s ‘Harvest Barn’ sessions in Northern California, recording sessions in Nashville and London. But part of the fun of these reissues is the extra goodies that enhance the original songs and help the listener peer into the process of making music, and this is where the 50th Anniversary Edition excels. Fans of the record will receive a new glimpse into Harvest through the two DVDs included in the box set. After seemingly hundreds of years of different variations it is hard to say what the real Neil actually is but if you are going to start somewhere perhaps 'Harvest' is your best entry point. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. Musicians on Harvest include Ben Keith (pedal steel guitar), Jack Nitzsche (piano, lap steel guitar), Tim Drummond (bass), Kenny Buttrey (drums), John Harris (piano), Graham Nash, Stephen Stills and David Crosby (backing vocals), and the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Meechham.
