About this deal

I don't know if it was marketing, the engineers, or another department in EVGA that came up with this term, but it's wildly misleading. I also appreciate that the capture into OBS is instantaneous, versus having to deal with a monitoring delay, or even go through the rigamarole to sync your camera with the delay of your capture card. Today we’re taking a look at the EVGA XR1 Lite, one of the cheapest 1080p60 capture cards on the market.

This is thanks to Cam Link’s USB Video Class (UVC) driver support, and you might be surprised to learn that the XR1 also supports UVC. HDMI capture cards, or HDMI capture devices, are extremely valuable tools with a wide variety of uses. The headphone output on the XR1 really came into its own here, solving a problem that shouldn't exist. You can still add the audio from the capture card as a separate source if you wish, and I did notice that doing so produces more volume, but it isn't necessary. While these cards may output 1080p60 video and record at that resolution, they will have issues processing the signal.I have been using EVGA products for years and now with the new XR1 my live streams are looking better than ever, and installation was a snap. I could simply play my games off the OBS feed rather than look at the monitor itself, a test that the EVGA card passed with flying colors.

We overlaid OBS statistics on each recording to highlight CPU Usage, average time to render frame, and whether or not there are skipped frames due to encoding lag. It’s chonky compared to the competition, easily taller than my Razer Ripsaw HD or my Elgato HD60S cards, but I do like just how much character the card has thanks to its finish. This is EVGA’s 2nd capture card on the market and it’s meant to be a cheaper variant of their XR1 model. So when we had the chance to check out the EVGA XR1 Pro Capture Card, I leapt at it in an effort to see just what the PC peripheral company brought to the table with its foray into content creation tools. If you don’t need the PRO features (more on the differences shortly), and just want a 1080/60 capture device, read on. While this may not be important to the majority of people, it’s detrimental to those looking to capture footage of their retro game consoles.

If you're a console gaming content creator then you want to have the best capture card in your arsenal. instead of MJPEG, and is OBS certified, which is closely related to the fact that the XR1 lite is fully compliant with the UVC standard.New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . The Elgato HD60S has widely been known to be one of the greatest 1080p60 capture cards on the market for its great latency and great image processing. The performance you get from this unit is what you’d expect out of a capture card that costs significantly more! On the front you’ll find two audio jacks: one to listen to the audio mix of the capture card, while the other is to integrate party chat from your console into your stream.

Whether you're going to use the audio features is another matter, but you're well catered for if you want it. With Windows 10, the capture card can be used without ever installing the accompanying software package. Indeed, the most laborious process of setting up the EVGA XR1 Pro is down to making sure you’ve got room on your desk for the card itself, at least in my experience, what with the audio mixers, Razer Stream Controller, and all I’ve crowded my set up with. All the various features are controlled with this, and the XR1 has a pretty solid audio game going on top of its video prowess. And while many old hands have no issues using OBS, both Elgato and AVerMedia with their easy-to-use apps, are more welcoming for newcomers. The EVGA XR1 Lite supports up to 1080p capture at 60FPS, this is a good middle ground which covers decent visuals with fluid motion.
