I have not coloured in since I was a little girl, but it was suggested to me as a way to keep my hands and brain busy, without eating.

The paper is a lovely creamy tone, which I think complements colours so much better than brighter white shades which beside your colours create too stark a contrast.

As well as drawings to complete, colour and embellish, there are hidden objects to be found along the way including wild flowers, animals and birds, gems, lanterns, keys and treasure chests. Any goods sold by us will have the benefit of the manufacturer’s warranties, which will be for 12 months unless otherwise stated. It would be a great shame if you’ve spent hours and hours and hours colouring in to perfection, to then have your colours fade after a few months on the wall.

The pages are thick and of high quality and have a slight waxy feel, so I imagine, judging by the reviews, that this would be the safer choice over Secret Garden if you wanted to use pens, as some of the reviewers of Secret Garden were disappointed by the quality and thickness of the paper. I am using the colouring pencils that pop up as the suggested ones here - the Staedtler pack of 24, which are high quality, yet affordable, with a great range of colours. The Artist’s edition features 20 images from the book and has the familiar part gold embossed cover as Johanna’s other titles. Enchanted Forest Journal is illustrated by Johanna Basford and published and kindly sent to me to review by Laurence King Publishing. Full of detailed drawings which take a while but has also a few quick ones to just do in a brief time Love all the range of these colouring books but this one is my favourite. Enchanted Forest is my second colouring book and a new opportunity for you to delve into my inky wonderlands and discover a magical woodland world. The 72 illustrations include loads of different leaves, fish, birds, owls, feathers and more, and they look stunning on each double-page spread either left uncoloured or brightening it up with splashes of colour. The designs are simply beautiful and there are plenty of double page spreads to colour in, theres also an amazing fold out section towards the back of the book with a very large detailed drawing to colour in.My video shows all the images included in the book, if you don’t have time to watch it I’ve included photos of my favourites below. No matter which way you open the book it lays flat, meaning you can colour right up to edges easily (all though not many images are printed right up the edge). I also hated being "told" what to do with the secret garden, "colour this in like this" "add your own detail to that" it just ruined the designs for me having speech dotted around the pages! From a mental health perspective, this journal is fantastic because it gives you small little colouring projects for the days when a whole page is far too overwhelming. I found that the illustrations are ideal for testing out colour schemes and techniques ready for doing my ‘best’ version in my copy of Enchanted Forest but this is also a great stand-alone journal. These larger images will look beautiful hung on a wall, to keep your pictures in good condition it might be best to use a lightfast medium. She is the bestselling author of Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest among other colouring books, and has sold over 21 million copies worldwide.My Daughter was also pretty excited too, she also enjoys flicking through Johanna’s books ( Lost Ocean is my Daughters fave) as much as I do. I was somewhat disappointed with "the secret garden" as I love to use both felts and colouring pencils within designs and with the secret garden you were limited to colouring pencils as felts would simply bleed straight through, NOT with this book, the paper is an excellent thick quality and ive been happily using felts and colouring pencils with no bleed through at all! Thanks I knew the colouring book was used so expected quite a few pages to be coloured in but there was only one full one that I wasn’t very interested in colouring, and two leaves of another page, both in pencil so can be coloured over.
