About this deal

From climate change to animal conservation, these picture books, poetry collections, novels and graphic novels will encourage children and young people to think about and discuss pressing issues about the environment. The attention to detail is fascinating and the message, like the other books, is about our own part in the impact on the environment and the changes we might need to make. It might be interesting to compare different badger characters and look at some non-fiction about the wild animals to see if there is a realistic basis for representing badgers with these characteristics.

Some also introduce children to different weather patterns, and other amazing features of planet Earth. Pete the badger likes everything to be neat and tidy at all times, but what starts as the collecting of one fallen leaf escalates and ends with the complete destruction of the forest! It would be interesting to find out if any other behaviour traits found in the wild animals are also found in the fictional badgers. It has no words and uses beautifully created collage to show the progress of a scene from a window showing creeping urbanisation, over a period of possibly twenty years.I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! For more details, please consult the latest information provided by Royal Mail's International Incident Bulletin. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. Emily Gravett’s engaging woodland creatures will appeal to fans of such classics as The Animals of Farthing Wood and The Wind in the Willows and the rhythmic, rhyming text is perfect for reading aloud.

I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic!Emily Gravett's place in the world of children's books is already established but in Tidy she excels herself and will delight new audiences. The message is admirable and the cut-out cover enticing, but the greatest joy is in the comic expressions, hand-wrought images and witty detail.

A flood follows: cue for double page spread with what looks very convincingly like a lot of real mud in which Pete wallows with his red bucket and mop. As well as providing plenty of giggles, it also carries a valuable message about the importance of caring appropriately for the environment. He snips off flowers that don't match, washes the birds, vacuums the forest floor and sweeps, scrubs and polishes until everything is spick and span. Deforestation, development of towns, endangered animals and climate change are a few of the themes this book introduces for discussion or exploration.Pete hoovering up the catalogue reference on the final page of Tidy suggests that he hasn’t reformed entirely and is always going to be tempted to interfere with things that should be left alone. This enables her to photograph objects, change their size and move them around the page until she is happy with the result. You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods.
