I did not know much at all about Buddhism but this book taught me quite a bit of the basics in simple terms through the cat.

After all, what is a feline who walks at the heels [and occasionally bites at the ankles] of one of the great spiritual leaders to do but study the path toward Enlightenment? This book certainly gave me some things to look about, especially how even if I can't always change the circumstances of my life, I can change the attitude with which I view them.
