About this deal

I have the German digibook and it's one of those things that I really don't need double dip on but, I think I would for a standard release.

which is understandable - it more than gets the job done - but the Atmos upgrade is a fun alternative for those feeling a little more adventurous. Bloodsport (1988), starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Donald Gibb, Leah Ayres, Norman Burton, and Forest Whitaker. Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers.

Yeah, it’s cheesy, but the martial arts set pieces are done very well and the overall theme of the film will give you that “feel good factor” at the end. This edition was sorely needed as the UK has had to settle for a dvd release since ‘03The extras are fantastic and really make this steelbook release feel special.

Mediabooks for this are classy, I dislike the taller DVD size dimensions though, Plaion's Phantasm UHD has the Blu ray height dimensions I like better. Finally at long last easily van damme best film, I've begged and pleaded for this to come on steelbook long before I stopped collecting them an now it has, I'm really surprised it hasnt sold out while I'm writing this, I would have bought 10 copies myself cos love film that much but 35 a pop no chance. The packaging is worth its own mention as Bloodsport gets a trio of different special edition packages to choose from - mirroring the Mediabook style popular in Capelight's native Germany. self-promotional, but covers such a broad range of subjects that it's got a little something for everyone.

more "readable" detail on foreground and background objects alike, such as the urban Hong Kong signage and even costumes. Blu-ray edition, which squeezed both this film and Timecop on a dual-layered disc via the outdated VC-1 codec. A long forgotten classic that can be watched with better picture and sound quality than I ever remembered. Of course, Bloodsport is far more than just a flimsy, low budget martial arts flick made 35 years ago. These all-new bonus features are entirely in English with optional German subtitles and can be found on both discs.

Disc Limited SteelBook with 4K Ultra HD movies with Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR10 on UHD-Blu-ray and in High Definition on Blu-ray. Dialogue remains well prioritised (even the obviously dubbed / ADR work), taking precedence where required, whilst effects enjoy the bustle of the Hong Kong streets, the car noises, crowds, splashing across boats, and - of course - the painful body blows that dominate the fight sequences and land with suitably engaging LFE impact. When he finds out Tanaka is dying, Dux travels to Hong Kong in his honor to participate in the Kumite - a secret full-contact competition in which fighters from all over the world put their lives on the line.

So much of this looks so good, it's hard to really get hung up on what's likely mostly source limitations on a veritably low budget production. I’ve got this already from Capelight June release, note that the booklet text is in German, not sure if they have changed this for the 12th August release. Van Damme's had a hell of a career - cheap but endearing apocalyptic sci-fi action in Cyborg, double Van Damme craziness in Double Impact, TimeCop, Maximum Risk and more, almost hitting the big time alongside Dolph Lundgren in Universal Soldier, with his John Woo actioner Hard Target one of the finest in his filmography.

Bloodsport is on UK 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos from 21st August 2023. I thought the Kalifornia one was from Infinity and Capelight, but I confused that - it´s from Capelight only. From these Future-paks I grabbed only the Wolf Ceek -one immediately, because it`s uncut and contains both parts. Bloodsport is more than just the sum of its pretty flimsy parts, not only remaining a solid debut for Van Damme, with some spectacular martial arts action, but also the birth of MMA, UFA and even Mortal Kombat.Skin tones are rich and healthy, black levels rich and inky yet not smothering all that fabulous shadow detail, and the 4K presentation takes years off this now 35 year old flick, leaving the pain, almost comedic facial expression of Van Damme and antagonist Bolo Yeung looking clearer than ever. Capelight's UK release of their preceding German disc appears to be an almost exact port, with excellent 4K Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos giving the film a new lease of life, and leaving it looking and sounding better than ever before - and honestly better than any fan could have ever expected to see.
