About this deal

In the book, Gemma, Alice, and Biscuits' class teacher is Mrs Watson; in the TV series the class teacher is Miss Mancer (pronounced "Maneer"). Gemma and Alice form a temporary hatred for him when he "tells on them" to his mother about their plots on running away.

Gemma and Alice are both devastated at the thought of being separated, but Alice's snobbish mother claims that Alice will make new friends when they move. This book "best friends" is a delightful and fun story full of new complications at every turn of a page. This book is a must read because it is so easy to relate to and really sends a message out to children that things can get better from where they are, you jut need to push through and things will go nicely for you. The thing is, it makes no difference how hard the girls cry, or how loudly they complain, Alice is going to move away, and nothing will bring her back again.Luckily her grandad decided to take Gemma on a road trip where the girls were reunited but Gemma met Flora Alices new friend, the eventful meet ended with a funny incident with a cake! She is tomboyish, active and messy, who enjoys football, bike riding and spending time with her Grandad. I really loved this book because I could really share and express the emotions of the character on the story, especially Gemma, since she seemed to feel the most grief over what happened. However, Gemma received the most punishment, being the more boisterous of the two, was always deemed as the trouble maker and was forbidden to see Alice.

Girls keeping their families going, girls trying to get away… Jacqueline Wilson’s written about them all! Later in the day, Gemma meets Alice's new friend Flora Hamilton, who is a classmate to Alice at her new school as well as her new ballet class. The author's style of writing is very open and honest and this allows the reader to understand how each character feels at every stage. Best Friends by Jacqueline Wilson is the story of two friends, Gemma and Alice, who share the same birthday and always wish to remain best friends forever when they blow the candles out on their cake.

The characters - other than Biscuits and grandad, I found the characters unlikeable and hard to put up with. I think that the author wrote this book to show that anyone can get over things that could be major or minor.Gemma's grandfather invites her to accompany him on a trip to Scotland when he is hired to taxi a client from Scotland to London.
