About this deal

Once Jeremy swallows the pill containing the SQUIP, he begins to hear a voice in his head that sounds like actor Keanu Reeves. On December 12, 2019, the show announced that it would open an 18-week limited engagement run in Chicago at the Apollo Theater.

It's weird for me to read this book because the main character, Jeremy, I really think is based on Ned. It's later discovered that Michael's brother had a breakdown and is now extremely paranoid because he had purchased an early version of the SQUIP. The novel, on the other hand, takes a more lighthearted approach and incorporates a lot more humor and carelessness. Christine, staying in character, is angry at him for disrupting the play, but they continue out the rest of the scene awkwardly.

Christine tells Jeremy about her feelings for a guy she knows, who Jeremy initially believes is himself, but who turns out to be Jake ("A Guy That I'd Kinda Be Into").

Christine rejects him and is upset by the public spectacle, and Jeremy is kicked out of the play and replaced as Lysander for breaking character. Jeremy's long-time crush Christine Canigula signs up for the school play, which prompts him to do so as well. Squip is able to control electronics outside of Jeremy (cool but creepy plus it’s never explained why or how).It follows unpopular high school student and social outcast Jeremy Heere, who is considered a loser by his peers. Ned's stories often drew on his struggles with anxiety and depression, yet they had a strong comic bent. Michael comes across a distraught Jeremy who tells him the truth about the SQUIP and how it has been influencing him for the last few months. Vizzini often corresponded with fans who told him that his books helped them cope with their own mental anguish.
