About this deal

My son read this book and he questioned me why Jeanie hate Jack so much and I explained to him that maybe her younger brother did all of the things she didn't like just like he didn't like when his younger sister kicked down his Jenga tower as he finished building it. Bad Nana has been banned from the line-dancing club for “being disruptive in the freestyle section”, has a cat with PINK hair and carries a walking stick that’s used for everything BUT walking.

You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. She’s unlike Jeanie’s other grandmothers with her black dress, pointy black shoes and gigantic earrings ‘for a little bit of sparkle’. Messages on friendship and bullying are sensitively explored throughout and there is a lovely moment towards the end where Jeanie takes inspiration from her Bad Nana and speaks out. The pictures were somewhat funny although I found a mistake in at least one and I wasn't looking too hard.It is clear that Jeanie worries about her nana’s behaviour and is sometimes a little embarrassed by it but, really, she is proud to have such a fierce, independent lady fighting her corner. We hebben deze boeken voorgelezen aan onze dochter van acht, maar ze had ze ook prima zelf kunnen lezen.

Bad Nana always dresses in black, from the top of her head to the tip of her shoes and on super-special occasions she adds a sparkly pink turban.

Overall, it's huge fun, shows family love, has some really cool designed characters in simple drawing graphic style that's really effective and bold artwork throughout the whole book with popping colours for contrast. Jeanie is seven-and three-quarters years old and lives with her mum and dad and annoying little brother; she also has three nanas, the best one being Bad Nana. My son read this book and he questioned me why Jeanie hate Jack so much and I explained to him that maybe her younger brother did all of the things she didn’t like just like he didn’t like when his younger sister kicked down his Jenga tower as he finished building it.

Each chapter reads as a short standalone adventure of Nana's mischievous behaviour; perfect for children starting to read on their own, or as a class shared read or bedtime story to chuckle over. This loveable Nana has a strong sense of fairness and justice, so when a new park keeper decides to plonk unfriendly notices everywhere, full of rules designed to stop any sort of fun, Nana steps in. Este é o segundo livro que estou a ler da série "Oma Knetter", sendo que li o segundo volume primeiro. The font keeps switching on certain words and the size would grow or shrink on other words, and the constant change began to give me a headache. Pom Pom Gets the Grumps won Junior Design Awards Best Book of the Year 2015, and Sophy won Best Emerging Talent (Children's Author). Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. Henn’s decision to use a fabulous pink neon colour to dominate her lively illustrations fits in perfectly with the content of the stories – Bad Nana’s face when she gets angry, the park keeper’s uniform and Liberace the cat – it works brilliantly.
