About this deal

You can read about Apollo all you like, but it takes pictures like these to truly convey the wonder of journeying to the Moon; few space books have had such an emotional impact on me.

Le immagini sono di una suggestione unica e mi hanno permesso di percepire lo stupore di questi primi esseri umani di fronte a sfide ignote e quasi impossibili da raggiungere. Each year there's a superlative gift book published, and this year's might just be Apollo Remastered: large-scale, jaw-dropping photography of our first trips to the Moon, remastered for the first time from the original film negatives. Every image is accompanied by an explanatory caption, including quotes from the astronauts at the moment they were taken. You really feel like you are there, rather than just seeing the same vintage shots that we’ve all seen. Most of the images you’ll have seen from the missions are reproductions of reproductions and have lost a lot of their detail and vibrancy. The results are astounding, and according to the astronauts who were actually there, they're closer to reality than anything that's gone before. That said, I have been enthralled with 60s space exploration from Mercury through Apollo and built models of the the Saturn V on the launch pad, the LEM on the lunar surface, and the docked Apollo Soyuz modules when I was a kid. An absolutely beautiful book, which per my review of Apollo: VII - XVII I really should have worn the cotton gloves to avoid fingerprints on the high quality pages.

Digitally remastered photographs of each of the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo manned space missions (earth and moon). The photographs capture the pioneering era I took part in perfectly, and the techniques Andy has used have brought out such fantastic detail from that old original film we took back in the 60s.And who am I to disagree with one of the only twelve humans to actually have an informed opinion on the subject? All on black paper, in gorgeous definition, and with accompanying captions either giving context, or transcriptions of the astronauts' transmissions as they were taking the shots. Not only has Andy done a remarkable job bringing more details to light, but his incredible work has also created a lot of public excitement.
