About this deal

That’s the beauty of this surround track, it both harmoniously and aggressively captures the complete essence of what it’s like to be mankind’s last hope. The next chapter in the fight against the apocalypse is more of the same without completely being a carbon-copy of its predecessor, littered with contrivances for bringing back hideously imaginative monstrosities from another dimension. But outdoors in the middle of major metropolitan areas, the sequel satisfies those same childhood fantasies which have attracted audiences in the first place and make it worth at least one viewing.

However, as is often the case, the Dolby Vision also comes with several blatant instances of aliasing along the sharpest edges, keeping the presentation grounded from earning reference-quality marks. This is a film where the VFX work varies from photo-real to something more akin to sytlized animé, and all of that holds up here. I'm bumping this because I bought Pacific Rim HDR and a 4K Blu-ray player over the weekend and it's glorious. And while I haven’t seen all his work I still went into Pacific Rim with very low expectations because his flicks always don’t do it for me completely. For good and bad it enjoys a closer attachment to the Transformers movies than the del Toro film which it was spawned from. Blade Runner 2049 and Ghost in the Shell are also really good looking movies, really pissed we don't get Valerian and a bunch of other movies in 4K HDR on Apple Movies where I live.

It's a 2 disc addition, obviously the first disc is the blu ray movie, the second contains the special features, which are also in blu ray (not like other blu rays where the extras are in normal DVD format). I’ve never seen an absolutely glorious orgy of men (robots) and monsters throw down like this and something tells me it will be a long time before we ever see something of this grand scale again with the exception of say Godzilla or King kong. Read more about the condition New: An item that is still in its original shrink wrap from the manufacturer and the original manufacturer’s seal (if applicable) has not been removed. Pacific Rim' has always been surround sound demo material, but this Dolby Atmos mix rises above the original Blu-ray's 7.

We see how they get into their Jaeger, how the mental connection (known as "the drift") functions and how they co-pilot their robot. The transfer from film to high resolution digital formats really depend on the quality of the film being scanned and the quality of the scanner itself.

Having looked at Dunkirk (70mm IMAX - 65/15-perf and 65/5-perf) and Interstellar (hybrid of 35mm and 65-15-perf) previously, over the next few weeks, when possible I'm going to try for a survey of comparisons using different types of movies and show the kind of resolution difference one might see going to 4K. Sure, I know that this is "4K Ultra HD Blu-ray" and not "Oh look the shadow detail is a bit better Geoffy Vision™ Boo-ray" so this endless circlejerk about "fake 4K" will continue apace, but as someone who's done the upgrade dance soooo many times over the last 25 years I'll take my improvements where I can get 'em, be they spatial/temporal resolution, compression, colour, black levels, contrast, dynamic range etc etc etc. Rising up to become the most powerful defence force to ever walk the earth, they will set course for a spectacular all-new adventure on a towering scale. e. tiny little glints of light - then it's not throwing away those tiny little glints as mentioned, it's throwing away massive chunks of clouds or whatever that are living in that artificially boosted high-nit range, thus making it look more blown out than the SDR. The film does feature a fair few other moments of Jaegers battling monsters in the ocean, story or otherwise.

I feel like I’m announcing the birth of my yet to be born son with this 4K Ultra HD package of Pacific Rim. What was it about monsters from the Pacific Rim and giant man-made robots that had everyone‘s panties in a bunch that they were so excited over? The fight against the apocalypse readies for battle with a fantastic, highly-satisfying Dolby Atmos soundtrack that'll have the house feeling exhausted from the bonkers pandemonium. Look above Pentecost in that same shot, how posterised the darker regions above his head look in the SDR disc.

I was literally deaf for hours after rocking this Dolby Atmos surround presentation, but don’t get me wrong it sounds tender and sweet during the slower, more emotional moments.Silky, midnight shadows penetrate deep into the screen without hampering the finer aspects of the background, providing the 2. Universal Studios Home Entertainment brings Pacific Rim: Uprising to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray as a two-disc combo pack with a flyer code for a Digital Copy.
