Moseley’ takes its name from an area in Birmingham, ‘ Moseley Shoals’ is a tribute to Muscle Shoals, the legendary soul recording studios in Alabama. But whether it's wisdom or self-belief thee rest of "Moseley Shoals" isn't to be found wanting because while eight of the remaining nine tracks may not be as familiar they do pass the fab-or-filler test even if [spoiler alert] they don't all perhaps adhere to a strict Britpop template.

In December 2012, the band announced the forthcoming release of their tenth studio album, Painting, which was released on 11 February 2013. It's not the just songwriting or the playing that makes these songs so very good, that's not to say that the songwriting isn't good, it is, and so is the playing from all four musicians, but it's in the arrangements and the production by Bernard Lynch and OCS where their strength lies; they've really thrown in the bells and whistles, although perhaps not real bells and whistles, and that's what makes these songs work; they're collages of carefully arranged small fragments of sound that have been pasted together but not in a throw-in-the-kitchen-sink-and-make-everything-louder-than everything-else way, these songs been crafted with journeyman precision and it's an absolute joy to listen to them in my headphones.
