About this deal

Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. Eventually got round to properly replacing my very battered 2nd hand CD of this album with a shiny new one.

The feel of the album is entirely different from On A Storyteller's Night; lighter, streamlined, as I said, but not without substance.Auf diesem Album geht es etwas rockiger zu, aber 2 melodiöse Nummern setzen sich auf Anhieb im Ohr fest. There's truly not a bad track here, and different ones emerge as favourites each time I play it - currently it's Midnight, for its risky but perfectly judged saxophone climax, and Holy Rider, for that boomy, epic soundscape that prefigures what the Killers created in Sam's Town.

Language - Regardless of country of origin all tracks are sung in English, unless otherwise stated in our description. Capitalising on the success of On a Storyteller's Night, Magnum changed to a more commercial direction with Vigilante. From the breathy, synthy opening of Lonely Night to the ecstatic, drum-clattering coda of Back Street Kid, these are just nine top-notch songs given the best glossy, mid-80s production values by the skilled hand of Roger Taylor. Produced by David Richards and Queen drummer Roger Taylor, the band's sound stepped towards that of 1980s Queen, with keyboards much higher in the mix than guitar. peut-être un peu trop hard fm, mais néanmoins des titres comme Vigilante font de cet album un des meilleurs de Magnum mais pas un des plus typiques. Gracenote bizarrely categorizes this as 'Metal' (whereas even AC/DC and Led Zeppelin are tagged 'Rock') but who cares?

I've read quite a few reviews who depend their rating whether the album (or artist) is prog and rate it down if not. The album was produced by Roger Taylor of Queen and the sound of the album is very much of its time. The gloss serves to the band's advantage too, in that it reins in the beardy, prog-rock tendencies of some of their earlier work and draws attention to the concentrated quality in the songwriting, and especially to Bob Catley's superbly paced singing. This is a very good Magnum album - I don't like it as much as "Kingdom of Madness", "On a Storyteller's Night", "Wings of Heaven" or "Princess Alice and the Broken Arrow", but it is up there close to their best. Three singles were released to promote the album, "Lonely Night", "Midnight (You Won't Be Sleeping)" and "When the World Comes Down".The approach adopted here was a lot more commercial and the end result is a more streamlined Magnum sound. Condition - This item is in Excellent condition or better (unless it says otherwise in the above description).

I don't give many five-star reviews, but Vigilante gets one because it's proof that there was good music being made even in the Thatcherite taste desert that was Britain in 1986. It has been one of my favourite Magnum albums since it was released and shows them at their brilliant best. Vigilante" e' quel disco che ti fa assaporare il classico Rock fatto di chitarre possenti ma mielosee da atmosferiche tastiere che rendono tutto magico. Queen is one of my all-time favourite bands, and I'm sure that fans of 80's Queen will like this music.those who ventures in this kind of music, for classical trained prog listner this one might be a desaster. I decided to replace my old cd as some tracks had always seemed to jump so I was quite disappointed to find the new does the same so perhaps it is a mastering fault when the it was transferred from vinyl.
