I contacted Vtech who weren't too much help, more or less blamed my WiFi despite it working ok before.

I was sure at least one of them would like it, because it’s tech, but wasn’t sure whether it would seem too babyish for the 8 year-old, and prove too old/hard to use for the almost 3 year-old. It was not always possible to connect to the chat app, device was running even slower than usual and just not up to the job advertised. We have always been a huge fan of the brand, having had the walker and singing Alfie bear when Harrison was a baby, to the Kidizoom camera we reviewed a couple of months ago to our latest item, the VTech KidiCom Advance, which hasn’t disappointed.EDUCATIONAL TOY: Connect to VTech's platform to download lots of e-books, apps and games and choose from a child-friendly library of videos and music - including great educational built-in games and apps, and a ton more to download! They obviously can’t send them to just anyone (or vice versa) – the person they want to message has to register first and be approved by you, so it is all very safe and secure. LOADS OF ENTERTAINMENT: Play games with a variety of popular characters and a bonus fun augmented reality monster-catching game. This identified our wi-fi (as well as its second channel and a Mesh wi-fi system we’re running) without problem, and connected easily. Product 2: MUSIC KIDS TOY: Perform all your favourite songs via any external music player and experiment with the fun voice changing effects.

If this cable gets damaged, lost, or forgotten, it should be easy and inexpensive enough to find a substitute.There is a slightly unbalanced feeling in the hand, as it’s appreciably heavier towards the bottom half of the device, but since this is the part that’s held, it’s not much of an issue. This came in packaging that was largely made of cardboard, although inside the box and a cardboard surround this was secured in a moulded plastic tray. It’s not cheap, but it’s a high quality and fun electronic learning toy, which is what I’ve come to expect from VTech! As you know, this year we have been working with VTech to review some of their fabulous electronic learning toys. I like that this allows safe browsing, and parental controls can be used to restrict access and time used. While tablets are great, sometimes, they want a phone just like mummy and daddy – and that’s where the VTech KidiCom Advance comes in.This is a well built device cleverly designed for less careful hands and should withstand the usual bumps and knocks most kids stuff takes on an average day. EASY TO USE CAMERA: Kidicom Advance features a 2MP rotatable camera capable of taking photos or video that can be used front or rear - and then, make your photos cooler with a wide range of Snapchat-like filters and emoticons! The apps are clearly laid out in grid fashion, with 3D background wallpaper with elements that actually move when the phone is tilted. This looks and feels like a big smartphone, which is partially why the little ones like them, though much more robust and hard-wearing. But under supervision nearly 3 can also enjoy the audio/video players, video chats, and some of the apps.

Unfortunately we cannot deliver to BFPO addresses and some large items are shipped directly from our suppliers who ship to the UK mainland only. At 2MP, the rotatable camera isn't the best quality, but it has plenty of fun filters to play around with and does good to satisfy most kids' photography. The VTech KidiCom Advance has many of the features that you find on a ‘proper’ mobile phone – a camera, an app that allows you to silly filters as you do with Snapchat, a notes section, a calendar, clock, alarm, voice messaging, music player and much more.Product 1: PARENT SETTINGS: With this kids mobile device you can be rest assured your children can browse the internet and use all the features of this device securely with no need of constant supervision. Possibly less educationally, they like to take selfie after selfie using the Snapchat filters on my phone, and I can’t count how many blurred photos I find on the iPad of feet and close-ups of eyeballs and nostrils. Children can wirelessly exchange texts or send video messages securely with family and friends through the KidiCom Chat app.
