About this deal

Alex soon realizes he may have much to answer for, as "M" lures the detective out of the capital to the sites of multiple homicides, all marked with distressingly familiar details -- details that conjure up decades-old cases. Hope To Die" by James Patterson is the twenty second book in the famous Alex Cross series and for me definitely one of the better ones. Every book, he dangles something for the reader to seize on, a hope that something meaningful might occur, and every time things go back to the status quo against all odds. If he’s to get his family back Alex may be forced to play by the killer’s own rules, and what follows is an incredibly intense game of cat and mouse that nearly tips Alex over the edge.

I was giving up on the Cross series because I felt the writing was going downhill as the series progressed and I was not enjoying them as I did the earlier ones. A leader has fallen, and Alex Cross joins the procession of mourners from Capitol Hill to the White House. Simply put, James Patterson seems totally unfazed by the rampant criticism with which Cross My Heart (Alex Cross) was received. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. That scenario is continued here as he works nonstop to find them (hopefully alive); and as might be expected, the tension gets hot and heavy. To summarize: I love Patterson's machine gun writing style, but find the premise of the Alex Cross series tired and unrealistic, i. Alex Cross will need to use all his skills as a doctor, a detective, and a family man to prevent that resistance from turning lethal . When the home of Alex Cross's oldest friend, Ellie Cox, is turned into the worst murder scene Alex has ever seen, the destruction leads him to believe that he's chasing his most dangerous enemy yet. Cross's family – his loving wife Bree, the wise and lively Nana Mama, and his precious children--have been ripped away. So why was she parked in a Bentley convertible idling behind a DC private school, in the middle of the night, with the man who was the head of that school?

This is the second time recently that the author has used cliffhangers to tease a change in one of his series, and both have turned out to be gimmicky tricks intended simply to get another bestseller. Terrified and desperate, Cross must give this mad man what he wants if he has any chance of saving the most important people in his life. C., the series follows the Metropolitan Police Department detective as he hunts criminals, solves grisly murders and strives to protect his family. I'll also point out that while this book can stand alone, it's meant to be the second of a two-parter. It follows on directly from the cliff-hanger that ended Cross My Heart, so cannot really be read without reading that book first.Patterson still has a knack for writing fast-paced, engaging thrillers that have readers gripped from the first page. Being that she is one of my favourite characters in the series, the idea of her death is tragic to me. And the fiendish mind behind all the violence has appointed himself judge, jury, and executioner, with a terrifying master plan he's only begun to put in motion. The introduction of Ava into the story added a nice new twist on the family dynamic, and her street-learned skills prove invaluable in Hope to Die.
