The bipolar tone and the singularity of Lzzy’s voice ( alto) cause our attention to wander between the instruments’ sharpness and the vocals’ turmoil. The track American Boys, as the title would suggest, is not quite the manliest of songs on the album. The Deluxe Edition has three extra tracks; “Don’t Know To Stop”, “Private Parts” (which features James Michael of Sixx:A.Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Maybe it just struck the right chord with me, but hey, that’s what music is supposed to do right and all I can do is thank the band for writing it BUT make up your own mind on it, I’ll shut up about it now. I was concerned when I heard Halestorm's brilliant first album that they had set the bar too high and could be one of those bands that never repeat their first success. It features an almost sinister sound during the songs verses, with the music calming down and the vocals sounding like Lzzy is getting ready to pounce on an unsuspecting victim, only to belt out the killer chorus fit for the best of hard rock fans.

The Strange Case Of…’ opens with “Love Bites (So Do I)”, which, in my opinion, is up there with the best hard rock songs; it’s loud, energetic and full of attitude. It is very important that I note this is a rare album, and first of this blog, that gets a 10 out of 10 for its diversity and recognition and respect in the rock community. I’m happy to say that it was well worth the wait as this album is exactly what I’ve been looking for this year; it covers it all, there’s balls out rock, there’s amazing ballads, modern rock songs and there’s balls out rock.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Josh Smith is an excellent bass player, Joe Hottinger is a guitarist who's solos go somewhere - not just 1000 meaningless notes per second, he does something with them. The first is an energetic song which would also be a good closing song, but then you have a great duet, then finish off with a mid-tempo track which is a brilliant closer. It's a much edgier, rockier release than "Into the Wild Life" and all the better for it, although she does slow it down for a few tracks after "Freak Like Me" which allows us to get our breath before once more going for the guts with Rock Show, Daughters Of Darkness, and other delights.
