The album features a wide range of samples and instrumentation, with many aspects of alternative hip hop that would come to dominate the hip hop music scene in the mid-late 1990s. A breath of fresh air in the gangsta-dominated mid-90s, the Fugees' breakthrough album, 'The Score', marked the beginning of a resurgence in alternative hip-hop. Originally released in Feburary 1996, 'The Score' is the second and final studio album by the hip hop trio. The Fugees sold over twenty-two million records worldwide and are one of the biggest-selling hip hop groups of all time.
