About this deal

That set-up brought us lots of success, so we decided to revisit it this year (albeit a little more loosely, dropping the "learn" and just making this a goal).

The answer is forward facing bookshelves so that books face forward and are much more likely to be picked up and read rather than sat collecting dust. She has been speaking English for a while, but only recently has started picking up Russian words here in there. Or, better… it’s something we have to do weekly if not daily, so we prefered the full-wood solution. I wanted a piece of furniture that wasn’t too wide, otherwise the reading corner would have been too small to be comfortable. It’s heavier and sturdy so I know my baby will be safe when she eventually climbs/uses it to stand up to pick out her books!

Though the covers of most children’s book make for a very positive addition to the “art” displayed in a room, adults may get tired of seeing said chicken every day and rotate books more frequently than they would if the chicken were hidden between other books. Christmas in the warm climate will always feel very exotic to me… I have mostly lived in places where it is fairly cold for Christmas (even in Nor Cal it is not “warm”), and the first time I was in Brazil for Christmas it was nice but very strange, incongruent… I am somewhat jealous that you get to do it every year. Selected: The white bookcase is made of durable wood material and an eco-friendly lacquered surface that feels smooth to the touch.Once dry I used a roller to paint a water based undercoat, then a water based white satin finish coat of paint. At this point I set my front facing bookshelves aside for a few hours to make sure the glue was completely dry. I teach 6-year olds now, and many of their favorite books in my classroom library are non-fiction books about animals, space, bugs, vehicles, etc. I started by drilling guideholes, but I found that pine is soft enough that I didn’t need to drill holes first as long as I started the screw nice and slowly.

Two triangular-ish pieces close the sides (the bottom angle is cut to match the shape of the bookshelf). So needless to say, front facing bookshelf was the first thing I started looking for but strangely the last thing I found. NOTE: It is important that the back edge (the 100mm width) is larger than the smaller front edge (50mm width) so that you're able to fit a tool in to put a screw through it to screw it to the wall. You know, this may be too personal of a question, but are you planning to go visit Russia anytime soon/at all?Of all the projects we made for her, our Montessori bookcase with reading nook is the one we are most proud of, so I wanted to tell you how we built it and give you a few useful resources to make your own. I think our DVD is Spanish, German, French, British English, and American English- how funny is it that they included the Queen’s English as a separate language? Board books are great for sounding out letters and starting to learn to read properly, not to mention developing their imagination and creativity to make up stories that fit in with the pictures! This type is more used in classrooms than in home environments, because it has the benefit of offering different sides to different children all at once.
