About this deal

The detective to the right of the Chisel will read the briefing on the case from the detective casebook. While the first couple of cases are easy to solve, they quickly get more challenging and will give you a real thrill.

Detective: CoA uses the innovative ARC (Adaptive Response Card) System to create the feel of interrogating a suspect.

The Detective will only read what is being shown on the ARC sleeve, and if any new evidence is given the Detective may look at it. Detectives can challenge responses that they think are lies but at great risk: If they're wrong, The Chisel will acquire leverage over them, making the case that much harder to solve. Nothing is more satisfying than correctly challenging a tough witness, and nothing is funnier than watching a player repeatedly failing to recognise that the sweet old lady next door really doesn’t know anything! As the detectives turn the city upside down, uncovering fresh evidence and "hot" leads, hidden suspects may be revealed and new lines of questioning will open up, creating a rich, story-driven experience!

It will state which lettered case files will be flipped, where suspects will be placed on the board, where the crime scene marker is placed, and places that detectives should visit. The player to the Chisel's left will gain 4 scratch, second player 5, third 6, and the last player will get 9 scratch. The first day of the game a detective will place their miniature on the board at a police station at the start of their turn, this is only done on the first day.Detective: City of Angels, set in the dark and violent world of 1940s Los Angeles, is a game of mystery, deception, and investigation for 1–5 players. What happens when you ALSO have to identify each additional accomplice that was involved as well as where the next crime could take place? The other great thing is the information that is given to detectives are not obvious, this means detectives need to pay attention to what suspects state, or what information their casebook gives. Detective: City of Angels is an epic narrative-driven board game set in the dark and violent world of 1940s Los Angeles. That is, even if they run out of time and the Chisel "wins," it's a good idea to let everyone keep playing until the mystery is solved—that way everyone winds up satisfied.
