About this deal

I knew from an early age I had strong maternal instinct and would have a career surrounded by babies and children. This is disrupted however any time there is a cold, tooth, bad dream etc so actually it's sometimes not as good as it sounds when you really think about it.

Avoid exposing your baby to bright lights or engaging in stimulating activities, as these can signal that it's time to start the day. By establishing a 7pm to 7am sleep routine, you can ensure that your baby gets enough rest while also allowing yourself some much-needed sleep.I started this book when my son was three months and was concerned that the routine wouldn't work as he was getting past the newborn stage but from the first day I saw improvements and after getting up every 2 hours at night he would wake only once, by day 5 he slept through the night which I couldn't believe. A 15 month old would take up most of one cot and would certainly be too big for a baby bouncer where they are unable to move and will certainly keep waking up.

When he is grisly and tired I take him upstairs - he sees his cot, listens to his light box music, and has his bunny and goes to bed, gurgling and smiling (he is now 7 mths). I wrote the bestselling book Mumboss-The Honest Mum’s Guide To Surviving and Thriving at Work and at Home in 2018, with a 2nd edition released in 2020 and the US and Canadian version titled The Working Mom was released in 2021. You might not feel confident or even calm sometimes as a new parent but by breathing deeply and slowing your heart rate down while holding your baby firmly will make your baby feel secure.Make a little goodnight ritual which doesn’t involve handholding until she is asleep, maybe introduce a new comforting toy to help settle, say you will check on her in 5 minutes and always keep your word. You could try moving the nap slightly earlier and for less time but 11 solid hours through the night is much better than fewer hours broken up over a 24 hour period. Leave the room but go back after five minutes and play out your settling ritual again, repeat until asleep. Try calming over the shoulder, ten minutes before bed in the room he is sleeping in and pop him down to settle himself. At 18 months I would expect the twins to still be napping once a day and preferably over the lunch time period.

It can also be used for all your newborn and parenting needs whether you choose routine or feed on demand. Please can you ask the lady how I can get my 3 year to sleep through the night and until at least 6? Making good use of time spent feedi ng to ensure feeding is active and baby is actually drinking and not comfort sucking or snoozing will teach positive associations with feeding and make sure your baby is full at each feed.A consistent feeding schedule and offering a final feeding before bed can ensure your baby has the nourishment they need to sleep through the night. Melatonin is released by the pineal glands when it gets dark, telling our bodies it’s time to sleep which you can encourage naturally by setting up a positive sleep environment and calming bedtime routine. Breastfeeding on a routine is very different to feeding on demand as is the advice surround it, my method helps mothers understand their breasts, personal milk supply and milk flow which is key to successfully feeding on a routine.

Me and my husband have taken it in turns for the last 7 months sleeping on the sofa with them on the floor next to us in the bouncers. I would recommend this book without reserve - it's an amazing support to any new mother and the routine allows you the confidence and freedom to really enjoy parenthood in the early days.Baby sleep guru Charmian Mead's flexible plan, developed from work with hundreds of families, is designed to encourage baby to sleep a full twelve hours a night, naturally, by as early as six weeks old without any tears.
