About this deal

Huff, I hope you keep the site maintained, I have contributed in the only way my limited budget will allow me. the engineering guys seem to have done their homework well and then it looks to me like the marketing guys came in and messed up everything big time. The HN-N104 lens hood is a small, round hood that screws onto the front of the lens to provide some additional resistance to flare. Equipped with high-quality glass, this 1 NIKKOR lens delivers edge-to-edge sharpness even at maximum aperture. I will go into more detail on that later, the point that I’m trying to make is that people who compare the 18.

You’ll even see some of it by f/4 which is rather surprising since I expected it to get a lot better by this point.

Vignetting at the largest aperture is quite pronounced, though, as is distortion, which is a bit on the high side for a normal prime.

I have no problem with it at normal ISOs, and while detail suffers as you climb through four-digit ISO territory, I find that with the 18.As I personally think that at base ISO (and especially with 14mp) the V1/V2 might be a bit of a closet close up machine. The focus did rack (back and forth once not multiple times—in other words, it did not hunt) only a few times, and I shot hundreds of photos, but it always locked on immediately afterwards. The lens has a metal mount, since it’s so light, I’m guessing the lens barrel is made out of aluminium alloy and a paint-job extremely resistant to abuse. Not so much, I discovered — the J5, being last of the line, has held its value surprisingly well, and even the older models are still worth some scratch.

This lens, designed for the Nikon CX-format sensor has an angle of view roughly equivalent to a 50mm lens on a 35mm camera body. And it’s amazing what you can do with the V1 RAW files… I’m such a fangirl, I know, but I love my V1! C. I used to feel the say way that you do when I ran into this back in the early 2000’s, but I think it is really just about one less distraction or thing be noticed by my subjects.

I’ve always been a fan of the underdog, and that’s exactly what Nikon has here in the Nikon 1 System. It could render beautifully but there’s something missing, I think this has more to do with the limitations of a smaller sensor.
