About this deal

With 3D Displacement Mode, MEAZOR 3D is the VERY FIRST laser measure that allows you to move freely in any space and auto-stitches every edge of the room. However, you have to have your phone in your hand every time you want to send a measurement – which you do, rather unintuitively, by tapping the number on the little round touchscreen – and then accepting the sync. Based on testing, measurement accuracy can be increased by 72% and time efficiency improved by 70% on average when using MEAZOR 3D compared to other traditional measuring tools. The trick is to realize that you are mapping discrete points, so you rotate the device till the laser is pointed at a corner, then touch the screen, then rotate to the next corner and touch again, etc … This gives a pretty rough map of a room.

You also need a very steady hand: make sure the device is on a tripod for this and even then, the measurements aren't accurate enough to use for precision work. This is a huge drawback to most of us in the United States who would rarely use decimal inches or feet.Provides complex interior measuring functions, instant floor plan plotting, and measuring data visualization. In addition, using the 3D Tilt Mode, it is easy to capture the room, including any furniture or obstacles present, with a hands-free experience and the fastest 3D point-capturing process to produce easy-to-use 2D results. MEAZOR 3D, powered with the 3D technology implantation, from capturing to 3D floor planning, in highly favors of boosting measuring functionality in each way. All in all, I will probably still use my Bosch more than the MEAZOR because I don’t do a lot of room scanning, just linear measurements, and the Bosch is easier to use (buttons instead of a touchscreen) and the batteries last longer.

I used the MEAZOR several times over the course of a couple weeks for a total use time of approximately 2 hours before the battery needed to be recharged. Point Scanner – It took some time for me to figure out how to use this mode, but once I did I found that it worked reasonably well. You can tilt it to reach the corners if there's furniture in the way, and if you have to move it to reach all of them you can align the Meazor to its new location by rescanning a couple of the corners you've already measured – or so the manual claims. I can imagine that some items may be difficult to measure with the laser and it would be easier to use the wheel. There's also a protractor mode that uses the laser to take the measurement of the angle (and an optional attachment for greater accuracy). Level – This mode works well, although you have to start by placing it on a level surface to calibrate it. I tried to use this feature to do a continuous scan of an entire room, but the resulting images were not very useful.

You can chose imperial or metric measurements and then flip between millimetres, centimetres and metres or inches, feet and yards. Selecting “New Project” on the main screen brings up a window that allows creating a new project (right screenshot above). Additionally, it offers a range of editing and processing tools, allowing users to manipulate and refine their 3D models or simply export to a CAD file to be used in conjunction with other popular software. The one other benefit of this mode is that it uses the rolling wheel to take the measurement, so if you set the scaling ratio to 1:1, then it will just report the length based on how far you rolled the device.Point Scanner – This mode utilizes the tripod and allows creating a point by point 2-D scan of a room by rotating the device. Three new added modes come with Space/Volume Auto Calculation, 2D to 3D floorplan display and label measurements directly onto the snapped object. But when you try to do that, the device tells you those options are coming in an update and despite waiting some months we couldn't find an update. The main screen is a drawing grid (screenshot on the left above) that can be used to manually create diagrams, or modify imported scans (from the Point Scanner or Curve Scanner modes).

By selecting the unit label on the main screen (“Inch” in this case), a dropdown menu appears that allows changing units (middle screenshot above). Whether the job asks for the 3D floorplan design for professional use or handwork measure in daily, MEAZOR 3D brings the significant extent on measurement convenience. The unit is well designed, portable and has a simple and intuitive interface making it easy to operate which is an impressive feat given the technology involved. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. You also need to place the device where you can see and reach the screen to sync the measurement to your phone, because we couldn't find an obvious way to lock the measurement so you can pick it up and read it.The MEAZOR 6-in-1 Laser Measure tool worked reasonably well and has several modes of operation that provides some useful functionality. When we imported the plan to the phone app, it was placed at an angle on the grid – and when we tried to import a rolling measure for the size of a door we placed on the floorplan, it kept telling us it was four-something inches rather than the 28 inches we'd just measured. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers. The bottom of the tool contains an exposed plastic wheel that allows for rolling measurements of curved surfaces and is also used by the scale ruler function. The laser measurer is accurate and can cope with long distances, as long as it's not too bright: we measured up to 15 meters comfortably, but struggled to reach the promised 25m.
