The photos and quotes were easy to appreciate in their quality and candidness, but when given the focus of only John Lennon (in comparison to the intertwining story of the entire Beatles group) the book comes off as more of an ode to his relationship with Yoko Ono. Somehow, instead of birds, I would rather have seen people, trying to live together in peace, building components of society together. I have two, now adult, children who grew up in Australia, where this book is now an acknowledged classic; and another, not yet at primary school, growing up in Kent; all of them have loved it. I think it’s so important that everyone knows the themes of John Lennon’s “Imagine” and how everyone can live in peace no matter what. Actually, I "read" the book a second time, just looking at the illustrations, and I think I liked the story and book more when I wasn't reading the text with it. Lennon’s marriage and collaboration with artist Yoko Ono inspired his iconic peace anthem ‘Imagine’. She has shown her work all over the world, including several films and her first retrospective, in France in 2016.
