The void that the protrusion creates doubles as an RGB zone as lighting is projected around the inside area which provides some a pretty unique look once powered on. This latter option allowed me to tweak the sound to a more pleasing level, but I never felt particularly impressed by the overall sound quality produced by the G560. It appears to feature a single sided PCB using a switching PSU design based on the K13A6 power regulator we see heatsinked in the middle.
The right satellite speaker contains all the accessibility goods: Power, volume up and down, a big ‘G’ logo that controls incremental brightness of the RGB, as well as a headphone jack for easy plug-in. You can go into Logitech’s software and drop every single EQ setting by about 20 decibels, giving you more headroom to adjust volume. By reducing the sensitivity of the color changes, I was able to get it to a more manageable level, but this required a fairly deep dive into the sampling options. Programmable G-key cycles through color brightness by default, or can be programmed to trigger applications or execute in-game macros via G HUB. The sound was beautifully balanced, whether I was listening to the twangy bass of Old Crow Medicine Show or the aggressive accordion of Flogging Molly.
Perhaps most annoying of all is that all of the other reviews from big sites seem to have completely ignored these issues in favour of heaping praise on them while hundreds of people trawl the Logitech forums in hopes of having their pleas answered. I will admit that because of the odd shape of the satellite speakers, these buttons and input are not exactly convenient to access. We're not talking about the aforementioned screen sampling; LIGHTSYNC-compatible games cause the RGB lighting of your keyboard, mouse, headset, and now speakers to react to unique situations in games. There was a firmware update as promised, but the G560 still gets way too loud too early, making nearly 90 percent of its volume settings unusable.
