About this deal

The primary power option is a single rechargeable 18650 battery (included); as a secondary option, you can also power the HM65R with two CR123A batteries. Operation is easy — just remember to hold the button down for about half a second to turn it off and on.

On a single charge, it can easily last several nights on the trail, making it suitable for covering long distances with few resupply points. We do recycle some of our boxes so you may receive a box which may have old labels removed etc but it all helps to keep postage costs low and of course the enviroment benefits too. Please note that the following products are not regulated by the FCA: Pay in 30 days and Pay in 3 instalments. A battery level indicator, positioned between the switches, provides real-time information with a single press, even when the light is off. The Fenix HM65R headlamp has a maximum output of 1400 lumens from the dual Cree XM-L2 U2 cool white and SP-G2 R5 neutral white LEDs.

I haven’t tested it to their claims, but it has been long enough lasting for everything that I’ve used it for over the month. Knowing that you can just thrown 3 AAAs in your vest instead of carrying a whole second headlamp is the best! The new 400 lumen spot / flood beam features a warm white LED to render colours accurately and punch through misty conditions. Like its brother, it has the same SPORT headband fit system and is super easy to adjust (seriously, it might be my favorite thing of all). With updated circuitry, the Trail edition features constant light output giving consistent brightness combined with long run times, lighting your way on the trails for extended periods without a battery change.

Each torch includes the Fenix ARB-L18-3500 battery, USB Type-C charging cable, headband, headband mount, and a spare o-ring. The only way around that is to tighten it, which then just compounds the headache problem I already mentioned. The charging socket is neatly sited with a waterproof cover so the submersion performance seems realistic. For reference, here’s a baseline shot, with all the room lights off and almost nothing hitting the sensor. Lifetime maintenance: If repair is required after 2 years from the date of purchase, Fenix will charge for parts.Try not to get buried in the details of manufacturer specifications versus measurements recorded here; A certain amount of difference (say, 10 or 15%) is perfectly reasonable. Even with the hefty battery life, at just 5 ounces, it’s noticeably lighter than many competitors on the market that produce headlamps with a similar amount of lumens. This head torch is the perfect companion for sea fishing at night, excellent illumination and power consumption, quality product.

The weight is reasonable at less than 100g, although this does jump to about 145g once the excellent 3500mAh 18650 battery is in place. The Full name of this headlamp is the Fenix HM65R ShadowMaster, it’s a bit of a mouthful, but there again, it’s quite a lot of head torch, so we’ll let it slide. As with the original HM65R, the Fenix HM65R-T has a combination of spotlight and floodlight LEDs which can be used simultaneously or independently. Uncover the anti-dust cap and plug the USB Type-C side of the charging cable into the charging port of the lamp. The plastic housing has a bit of a cover, which shields the switches when the light is in the fully pushed-back position. I was beyond thankful for the warm white light that adequately lit up my path, rather than “whiting out” the few feet in front of me that I could actually see. Simply lift the dust cover and plug in the USB Type-C cable at one end and plug the standard US-A end into a USB port or a USB adaptor. Temperature faulted during this (and the other) run, but it was at a point when the temperature had already settled anyway. We promote self-direction by emphasizing the do-it-yourself culture, and we believe growing paddlesport participation advances wilderness protection.

If the lamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the lamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage. I tested Fenix headlamps many years ago and, at the time, their quality was not up to the standards of their flashlight line. It feels quite plasticky but produces a good light and saves the surefire battery to enable maximum throw on another light while this helps with all the mundane tasks. The Fenix HM65R ShadowMaster Rechargeable headlamp is based on the popular HM65R but with a Red flood LED rather than the white fitted on the HM65R.With features like a long-lasting battery, extreme temperature resilience, and intuitive dual lighting modes, it offers the performance and durability that occasional night hikers, long-distance thru-hikers, and high-altitude trekkers demand.
