Up to four tracks can be recorded simultaneously with eight tracks of simultaneous playback plus an additional stereo track dedicated to the built-in rhythm generator. Now, I don't have any Boss or Roland hardware and do all my recording through a Presonus interface and use Studio One (DAW) to mix and master my tracks. It includes electrical noise reduction, heat reduction and over-voltage protection, keeping your device powered and safe. Zoom R8 – Similar spec to the BOSS BR-800, although it does include editing features that the BOSS lacks. I took a step back, read the manual and went on-line only to have it confirmed, Not only that, but TRACK EDITING has also been greatly dumbed down. These can be sequenced to create a complete arrangement and the sounds can be chosen from a set of nine drum kits.I've considered the Zoom R24 as it seems the only Zoom one with a built in drum machine but from watching tutorials I'm not sure the drums are as easy to use as on the Boss products. To end though, even though the era of the stand-alone ‘portastudio’ style recording interface is sadly resigned to history, in six years I’ve never felt the need to upgrade, the BOSS BR-800 just lets me get on with the job of making music,and I can’t give a better recommendation than that. A second mode is Song Sketch, designed for instant recording of wav files - ideal for those occasions where you want to grab song ideas before you forget them. Another major problem for me is that the mixer level settings cannot be saved in the song data file. Ever since I've had Windows 10 my PC just doesn't recognise my BR600 when I connect it so the card reader does sound a good option.

Transferring the mix to computer is done via USB, as is archiving of data, but the USB connection can also be used for direct audio transfer, with the BR-800 acting as an audio interface with the ability to send two simultaneous channels of audio to your computer as well as support stereo playback. Its a 4/8 channel mixer and it only makes a wav-file when you have mixed down a master file, and when you have done that, is it possible to edit it then?
