About this deal

I'm not going to lunge into comparisons here; and anyway the witches in the book were done with gusto and credibility (if one may say so about witches). Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages.

Personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of information under California and other state privacy laws, and you may have a right to opt out. I'm really excited to see what the rest of the book will hold, since we didn't even get to the most interesting part (the spells) yet.

Either she can be seen as a literal evil witch, treated somewhat humorously in these prints, or as a figurative 'witch', an unpopular foreign empress. You could say then that Baba Yaga crosses the wicked witch trope with the fairy godmother trope to create an ultimately far more unpredictable and powerful role than either of those. The trope of the mountain or forest crone or witch is a popular one across East Asia, mainly because, says Izzy, "the mountains are associated with great spiritual power and with hermit figures who decide to live life on their own terms – much like how Baba Yaga is very much her own woman".

Yet there's no excessive attention to detail the way historical novels usually have, that remind readers on every paragraph that we aren't in 2015 or whatever. Istočnoevropsko veštičarenje pomešano sa magijom pariskih ulica, sve to začinjeno suptilnim humorom, tajnim agentima, džezom i romansom – to je ukratko Babayaga.Zoya, it turns out, has been a beautiful young woman for hundreds of years; she and her far more traditionally witchy-looking companion, Elga, have been thriving unnoticed in the bloody froth of Europe’s wars. I have a hard time understanding why I lost interest pretty quickly, and finished it after several fits and starts. Meanwhile Stork Bites by EV Knight ramps up the horrific aspects of the myth as a salutary tale for inquisitive children.
