The pole comes in three separate sections that slide together easily and then they connect to a portable base, just like with our previous two reviews. The included ten inch hoop, and smaller sized ball, are obviously better for little kids, and they won’t struggle to use these like they would with full size equipment. The Impact backboard is molded of high-density polyethylene and has UV-protected, fade-resistant graphics.
Some of the screws and such that were supplied with the components are either low quality, or they are simply the wrong size!To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. If you’re working on a tight budget and are willing to compromise on not dunking and using it mainly as a shooting rim, this should do the job. The base capacity is 145 litres, giving it very solid counterbalance weight with either sand or water – again, sand/ballast is recommended to prevent freezing in colder conditions.
They also appreciate the speedy response to issues and the way the team goes out of their way to assist. Will it be mainly adults playing so you just need a 10 foot regulation hoop, or will you have kids/younger players playing so you might want to be able to bring the hoop down?
If you are going to be moving the hoop a lot – for example taking it out and putting it away for every single session – this is something you need to take into consideration. One or two negative reviews is normal, as quality control sometimes slips, but if there are a lot of people complaining about a particular thing, it’s probably best to avoid that product. The base when filled with water can be easily emptied or, given it isn’t that heavy can just be lugged about if you’re strong. Whether a junior one for kids or an adult version, opt for ones with adjustable height mechanisms so that you can tailor to individual heights and will last longer with growing children!
For a change, the instructions to help with assembly of this product were not overly confusing, and all the fittings needed were included and were the right sizes, so thumbs up there from me. While the quality of the 44 inch, UV resistant, backboard was good, as was the metal used for the rim, the fittings were either low quality, the wrong size, or missing, again! As far as setup there really isn’t much to this – the biggest issue is deciding whether you want to fill the base with water or sand. Getting set up is simple with the included and easy-to-follow instructions, and travel sets are compact enough for the car.At Decathlon, we want everyone to get involved in sport, which is why we design as many different and adaptable takes on popular products like these, to suit you and your lifestyle. This hoop and backboard comes with a 5 year warranty, which is reassuring, and to be fair the materials and construction did feel quite robust and durable. Most of the materials used in the making of this product, from the thick plastic backboard, to the powder coated metal parts, feel very solid and durable, and not that far off much more expensive products. If you are going to be playing a lot of games/pick up, you want to look to make this as large as possible and if not, get padding on your pole to reduce the risk of injury!

The ring base contains compression springs, making the rim ‘spring-loaded’ to not only be able to take dunking, but give a softer touch on shot attempt. You can even set up a court in the park or anywhere there's space on holiday with our portable designs.
