About this deal

Jeffrey has served five years in the House of Commons as a Member of Parliament, and thirty years as a Member of the House of Lords. I have no real inclination for anything royalty related so went into this novel with lowered anticipation. I’ve read the entire series but the author is getting too repetitive by recycling the same characters with each new episode.

He is a very by the book’s kind of person (with the exception of maybe one incident that happened prior to the current action) and he hates any hint of corruption within the force so you can see how it goes against the grain for him to blend in with the Protection Command to get the evidence he needs. Mostly very believable situations but there are one or two where you do have to suspend disbelief somewhat but they dont take away from the overall enjoyment of the series. Part of this finds DI Ross Hogan, the one-time undercover policeman, assigned the job of providing close protection to HRH Princess Diana. Why can't Archer get some other villainous characters rather than some guy who is being made out to be the superman of criminals during Warwick's time?

All the while, one of Warwick’s old nemeses is working through some legal issues all his own, wrestling for control as he seeks to get the upper hand on Scotland Yard. Back in this new installment is the cunning Booth Watson, Faulkner's attorney, who may be just as evil as his client.

One line finds Warwick and his team investigating possible misdeeds wtihin the Royalty Protection Command, assisted by DI Hogan, working undercover as Princess Diana’s body guard. A cast of characters that improves and deepens with each passing book offers the reader something they can enjoy, complaining progress and recession throughout the novels. Detective Chief Inspector William Warwick and his Scotland Yard squad are sent in to investigate the team. The action moved along nicely, the characters continue to develop and the cast is constantly expanding.Without all of this information it is extremely likely that you’ll be scratching your head wondering what exactly is going on. But it’s apparent his lawyer, Mr Booth-Watson, is starting to reveal the true extent of his treachery. A member of the House of Lords for over a quarter of a century, the author is married to Dame Mary Archer, and they have two sons, two granddaughters and two grandsons. Following doubts about the Command team’s ability and performance, a Scotland Yard squad led by DCI William Warwick, are sent in to investigate, because anything less than the utmost dedication to duty in the protection of the Royal family, will not be tolerated. This nothing new, but something is on the horizon, lowing the tabloids to feast on all the crumbs tossed their way.

Archer proves that he’s got many ideas to share and I hope he’s able to finish this series before laying down his pen. Maverick ex-undercover operative Ross Hogan is charged with a very sensitive―and unique―responsibility. He gained a Blue in Athletics at Oxford, was President of the University Athletics Club, and went on to run the 100 yards in 9.London 1988, and the nation has fallen under the spell of ‘the peoples princess’ HRH Diana, Princess of Wales! Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader's copy of Next In Line by Jeffrey Archer in exchange for an honest review.
