About this deal

The rear fence provides a backstop to hold the workpiece securely during cutting when used with a front clamp or top clamp. other cutters such as the drawer lock cutter are more appropriate – the lock mitre is the heavyweight of corner joints. The lock mitre cutter works best on cuts along the grain rather than across it, but if you are using it for carcase and chest constructions you are likely to make cross-grain cuts and you are bound to get breakout. Rotate the cutter so that the tongue is in its furthest forward position and set the fence so that the centreline on the test piece is lined up with the outside edge of the tongue. For larger boards, a length of batten clamped across the board and running on the top of the fence helps, especially if used in conjunction with horizontal featherboards.

First Aid: Have a first aid kit and know how to provide basic first aid in case of accidental injuries. While standard mitre saws tilt to cut at different angles, compound saws can also pivot left and right. I don’t think I would trust it to be 100% accurate on the angle of cut and would recommend double checking with a square or protractor, but once set will give nice uniform clean cuts.Designed for both DIY users and professionals, Evolution Mitre Saws are the best choicefor speed, precision, and reliability every time. Compound Mitre Saws are more versatile than basic Mitre saws and offer the ability to make a range of complex compound cuts.

A few minutes spent with a square or digital angle finder during initial assembly will repay you with greater cut accuracy.

A Mitre Saw is a tool designed to make precise straight, angled or bevel cuts in a variety of materials. The outline of the cutter is rough-cut and the fence is finished by taping the MDF to it and, with the cutter set to its initial height (see below), slowly pulling the fence forward past the cutter to complete the cut-out. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. To make the cuts easier, set cutter and fence to their precise positions, using your setting pieces, and clamp two stops to the table top tight behind the fence. This is especially useful when fitting skirting boards, coving and dado rails, as these can be sawn to the exact angles required by the installation.

At their core, mitre saws are designed to cut at an angle, allowing for a variety of cutting options.Using a long lever with a rack and pinion mechanism, it enables you to trim off fine shavings for the most precise fit. A compound Mitre Saw allows you to make two kinds of angled cuts simultaneously through your workpiece, Mitre and Bevel cuts, these are ideal for dado rails, cornice, skirting and anywhere else where you need to intersect two pieces of wood without a gap. The review cutter is the middle of the range T5596 1/2, catering for material between 16mm and 26mm thick. As well as corners the cutter can be used to make flat edge-to-edge joints for panels and tabletops but it comes into its own for right-angle joints.
