About this deal

But after a disturbing twist of events, Harley quickly realizes that her past is darker than she could ever have imagined. There were apparently other verbs that were used even more (73 chuckles vs 17 smirks), but once I started noticing it it just seemed like all any of the characters were doing was smirking and it got really distracting. Wade is a brilliant warlock with no social skills who is drawn to Harley from the beginning but equally repelled by her empath abilities. This author, whether a rising star or a seasoned veteran, has crafted the pages that whisk readers away on this series' journey. I’ll get to the actual review part shortly, but this bothered me so much that I just have to get it out of my system.

So I can see why it’s been likened to the adult Harry Potter, but honestly until reviews were read, I didn’t even think about HP. Fans of the series might find it intriguing to delve into other works by {author name} to see how their writing has evolved or how different themes are explored across their body of work. The book reads much more like a young adult novel aimed at teenage girls (lots of good looking muscular young men falling in love with the heroine and she can't understand why yadda-yadda).

I did enjoy how the coven was structured, and the idea of magicals striving for an overall positive balance in the world (though I feel that wasn’t really followed up). When a rogue 19-year-old witch is recruited to help guard an ancient magical Bestiary, mystery and danger ensue. So yes HP has definitely "inspired" the story, but when you put those elements aside there really is no comparison. It gripped my heart and drew me into the magical world Harley discovers, and I found myself unwilling to put it down. It took my a while to start reading the fever series, the description of them just didn’t sound like something I would be into.Alone in the world from the age of 3 yrs old, with nothing but a short note from her father; she has no memory of either of her parents and doesn't even know their names. The description and detail in the book is amazing, I can picture every scene in my imagination perfectly! However the book does have some positive elements (hence the three star rating); it is well written, there are a few well crafted action sequences and the story had a couple of original ideas around how magic might be used in a magical society.

She discovers that there is another world; a magical world which exists parallel to the human one, and there is much to learn and like about it. To answer a question as vital as the number of coffee cups consumed while reading, there are exactly 20 books in the Harley Merlin series. That being said the rest of the books don’t look quite as much as soft porn, so maybe I’ll give it a go. Their background, style, and influences often shine through in their writing, making each book a unique experience. Additionally, we occasionally include insights into the writing process, thematic elements, or how each book fits into the larger tapestry of the series. Harley is introduced to the San Diego coven, and starts to learn how to properly channel her abilities.
