About this deal

Deze 1/4” schachtbits en magnetische houder zijn ideaal voor gebruik met draadloze schroevendraaiers utgerust met een snelle spanknop, draadloze boren en bithouders. Similar in look to a Phillips® screw, JIS screws are commonly found on Japanese equipment and are designed not to not allow the screwdriver to slip out of the screw head. And instead of this, they try to teach us integers and factorials in middle school… How about knowledge you not might but WILL use in real, everyday life? JIS: JIS Ph1, JIS Ph2, JIS Ph3; Kreuzschlitz: Ph0, Ph1, Ph2 (x2), Ph3; Schlitz: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 mm; Pozidrive: Pz1 (x2), Pz2 (x3), Pz3 (x2); Sechskant: 2, 2,5, 3, 4, 5, 6 mm; Sechsrund: T10, T15, T20, T25, T30, T40. I double checked the fit first before selecting the best bit for the job and found the fasteners easy to remove with no slippage whatsoever.

Unior P screwdrivers, on the other hand, don’t fit nearly as well – the same goes for most other brands and models I’ve tried. But he was probably as good a salesman and capitalist as I am, so he couldn’t get anyone to produce screws and screwdrivers with this patent. It has been around at least 40 years (probably longer), but has never caught on and I’ve never understood why.I intend to run this article with local tool companies and suppliers to see if they have a more universal solution. I already hinted at that Wiha to own statement are part of the respective ISO commission, I guess Wera too.

Do you know of an official statement/document (other than the non-free ISO 8764 itself) from a standards body, well-known manufacturer of drivers/bits, or other reputable third-party that corroborates these facts? Set of four JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) Ph2 and Ph3 impact driver bits in both standard (36mm) and long length (80mm) sizes. In Yugoslavia, in elementary school, we had classes where we were taught how to build, and repair stuff (including the basics of wood, and metal working). My understanding is that the ISO 8764 standard tries to unify the Phillips and JIS drivers into one universal driver that is supposed to work equally well with both types of screws. Then how can you tell if a Phillips is one that works well with JIS screws and doesn’t easily slip out of Phillips screws?

When stuck with a ruined or loose fitting phillips screw fill the hole with valve grinding compound then insert phillips screwdriver. For working on my bikes fitted with Japanese (Shimano) components, I have successfully use the Vessel JIS screwdrivers mentioned in your article. Wiha, precision, and we are talking about small precision tools, are very good too, but are labeled 'Philips'.

I get a chuckle when comparing these screwdrivers tips and a similar comparison of the newer styles of open end wrenches currently available. Something never taught in school, you can’t ever beat street smarts… if you can find someone willing to share! As others have said, it's not ideal when you compare true JIS drivers and how they fit to others that are newer since the JIS standard was absorbed. All the “PH” bits work very well with screws on Japanese motorcycles and bicycle parts (though it’s 25 Nm of torque on impact, so not for the heavy-duty automobile stuff).
