Westland Houseplant Potting Mix is a peat free specialist mix that promotes healthy root growth and reduces plant stress, perfect for keeping houseplants happy. L is for LEAF MOULD Leaf mould is made of slowly decomposed leaves and can be added to potting mixes for woodland plants such as ferns. Perlite is a natural volcanic mineral that has been heated and expanded to form small, lightweight particles.
This blend is also a fantastic base to build off of to specialise towards your plants specific needs using different components. For round shaped decorative pots we provide the external diameter of the widest point so you get a sense of how large the pot is on the outside, as well as the width of the opening.
Our mix is made using a unique blend of four key ingredients: coco-coir, perlite, pine bark, and worm castings. Compare this to the size of the opening of your chosen decorative pot and ensure it is big enough to insert the plant's grow pot through the opening (see diagram below). Providing your houseplants with a premium substrate is detrimental to achieving a healthy, large root system.
Top tip – use a Westland Houseplant Watering Indicator so you know exactly when to water, they change colour when your plant needs a drink. The potting mix is peat free and is made only from clean, safe, professional grade horticultural ingredients.
