About this deal

Jordan Henderson is all of these things, and it is why he is one of the most widely respected players of his generation. Finished Jordan Henderson's autobiography over the weekend and it's a great read for all LFC fans - a must read in fact.

This book sets out why: a player who struggled with criticism and self-doubt, yet made himself the best he could be, ending up captaining Liverpool to every trophy available to them. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. A must-read not only for Liverpool fans but for football lovers everywhere, this is the candid behind-the-scenes look into the lire of a top-flight footballer as you've never seen it before. Head of non-fiction Dan Bunyard acquired world rights from Rory Scarfe at the Blair Partnership on behalf of Tyler Alexander-Arnold at Status Creative management. Full of heartache, excitement and triumph, this is a candid insight into the life of a top-flight footballer as you’ve never read before. Born in Sunderland, Jordan Henderson began his football career there before moving to Liverpool in 2011.

More importantly, it's also a lesson in perseverance, hard work, self-belief, leading by example and always trying to do the right thing. Henderson has also been a long-standing player with the England team, playing under Fabio Capello, Roy Hodgson and Gareth Southgate. The book is extremely ordinary, like the interviews footballers give after matches which lack proper substance. It's a great autobiography, a bit muddled with times and a few parts are repeated but it was a very easy read. Whilst initially I felt this was more like glossing over certain events and maybe not as detailed on the ins-and-out of Liverpool (did they learn from Pep's book perhaps? In this tell-all autobiography, Jordan reveals how his early love for the game as a kid became an all-consuming passion that led him to follow his dream - to play for his home club of Sunderland.

Under his captaincy, Liverpool have reached monumental heights - winning six trophies headed by the Champions League and the Premier League, bringing the club its first league title in 30 years. It’s a story of determination and willing himself to succeed - and he tells it with typical modesty and self-effacement. Hendo is one of my favourite players and arguably one of the best ever Liverpool captain's so I was looking forward to reading this. By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file.Through injury and setbacks, both personal and professional, what emerges is the story of someone who frequently battled against the odds as well as his critics to achieve success for his club and supporters, someone for whom a passion for the game and for his team never wavered. Henderson is a player I admire and clearly a good leader and I appreciate the intention of touching upon topics like Covid-19, Black Lives Matter, the European Super League and the French authorities role in the events at the Champions League final. The writing is often repetitive (in language and in content), and overall the book is pretty superficial, rarely going into much depth. We tend to put footballers on a pedestal but they are human beings and Jordan clearly has a big heart and so much passion for the game, while staying grounded and thankful for all that he has, especially his lovely family.

His story will go down in legend but his story also carries an inspirational message for anyone, showing hurdles and barriers won't stop you reaching your goals. The book reflects Jordan’s personality 100%, and you can tell that he has definitely had a big input in writing it. We have it set up so it’s easy to browse and even have all our recommended reads in one place to help you, if needs be.However, I’m not sure I truly learned anything about Henderson, nor the success of the Liverpool team in recent years. The story of Jordan's journey from Sunderland to Liverpool, and becoming one of the most successful football leaders England has seen now available in paperback. This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use.
