The conventional performance index of seashell powder asphalt was analyzed by penetration, softening point, and ductility (5 °C) tests; the effect of seashell powder on asphalt binder was studied using a dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) and bending beam rheometer (BBR) at high and low temperatures, respectively. The most people on a motorbike I have seen is six -- and I've seen that multiple times in India and all over Southeast Asia. The test method of emission reduction efficiency of the modified asphalt and its mixture was proposed. This is entirely appropriate because highway and transit facilities and services are owned and operated largely by the states and local agencies.

Whether it is driving to work, taking the kids to soccer practice, riding a bus, planning new communities, protecting the environment, or making it easier for kids to walk to school, roadways are a part of our day-to-day lives. The construction of the Interstate Highway System and subsequent expansion of connected urban freeway systems completely changed how people got around in this country. Chapter 11 examines the economics of green roadways and what we need to do to build the next generation of green roadways. These topics include, but are not limited to: transportation policy, green road design, road ecology, and case studies of projects from all over the country. In Creating Green Roadways, James and Matthew Sipes demonstrate that roads don’t have to be the enemy of sustainability: they can be designed to minimally impact the environment while improving quality of life.This Special Issue addresses the above issues and aims to gather recent studies that advance the knowledge about green roadways and management sustainability. The authors examine traditional, utilitarian methods of transportation planning that have resulted in a host of negative impacts: from urban sprawl and congestion to loss of community identity and excess air and water pollution. The energy consumption reduction from initiatives had the highest probability, at 40%, and water consumption reduction had only 9.

One of the big problems is that demands upon our nation's highways have increased significantly over the years.Chapter 4 explores the design and planning process, how to develop a wide range of green alternatives, and the best approaches for ensuring a green roadway that considers both people and place. Roads and highways have such an impact on our communities that we need to start thinking of them in terms of quality of life. Some transportation experts have gone so far as to say we can't maintain the size of our current road system, and what we should do is actually close down 15–20 percent of existing roads.
