Investigating with Claire and Sophie are Basher and his nephew Alex, they are directly related to Nana and are good side kicks for Claire and bring her out of her shell. This book positively lit up my weekends with its cosy, affectionate, funny, awkward brand of ghostly crime-solving.
On reading the synopsis for this book, I assumed I'd be getting into a Richard Osman-esque, Great British Murder Mystery tale - that assumption wasn't too far off, but this book is far better, in my opinion. Great assurance in the writing--hard to believe it's a debut--and marvellous characters make this a highly entertaining comic detective romp. It's my most highlighted Kindle book to date because there were so many funny lines I wanted to remember and most of them added to expanding our cast of characters. Her best friend Sophie follows along when she is asked to perform at a family gathering at the country home of an old university buddy.
