We love that it is a logic puzzle game that can be played solo to challenge yourself but also that it comes with a second game board and pieces so that players can challenge and race against each other. We had a lot of fun playing the Genius Star, both of my children (aged 8 and 11) were fully engaged with the game and we found ourselves becoming quite competitive to see who could complete each puzzle the fastest (and be declared a genius! Using a specially devised computer program, it is confirmed that all of the combinations have at least one possible solution, some have multiple solutions! The aim of each of the 165,888 possible puzzles is to complete the star using the eleven coloured shapes, once the seven 'blockers' have been positioned. The idea of the game is to roll the dice, place the blockers on the resulting numbers on the grid and try to fill every grid space using your eleven coloured shapes as quickly as possible.The Genius Star is just as fast and frantic as its predecessor but with harder puzzles and the added bonus of the Golden Star makes it so much more interesting. This tabletop game is well-designed and includes star-shaped grids, dice, 7 triangle blockers, and 11 different shapes with different colors.
Roll all seven of the dice together and place a 'blocker' piece into the triangle matching the seven numbers that appear on the dice. The game is great fun and will not only keep them occupied whilst travelling it is also fun to team up to play together as a family in the evenings.
