About this deal

Otherwise, I was greatly encouraged by this book and I think it is required reading for those who want advice about the tug that God has put on your heart - Your Dream. A modern-day parable explains how to achieve one's dreams and overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of leading the life God intended.

It doesn't bother me that the author quotes from that story and enlarges on the points he makes in the second half of the book. Step out of the Land of Familiar and step through the wall of fear and head towards the Big Dream the Dream Giver has uniquely given to me. I appreciated the second half of the book, filled with specific questions, answers, tidbits, and hints for the journey.Wilkinson also founded Dream for Africa, a humanitarian agency that has taken on AIDS, orphan care and hunger in sub-Saharan Africa. The realization I came to when studying this book was that I am the only one who can fulfill the vision or dream that God has given me and if I fail, then others will be affected as well. A 'dream egg' is knocked off the bed and onto a 'shadow serpent,' this is surely going to turn into a nightmare for one of the unlucky children. Bruce has helped me to see that taking proper time in Sanctuary with the Dream Giver, is crucial to the next leg of the Dream journey.

When we coach, we need to take extra care in not assuming we already understand the metaphors we are hearing. Wilkinson gives readers practical, biblical keys to fulfilling their own dream, revealing that there's no limit to what God can accomplish when we choose to pursue the dreams He gives us for His honor. It made me realize that I have a lot of responsibility to fulfill the dreams and visions that God has given me. If we step in assuming we know anything regarding their metaphor, we've stopped the process of discovery.

That is not to say that someone not of the Christian faith can’t find use and revelation from this book – it is just a note so that the context of the lessons make sense; since the book starts off with an allegory.Black Women’s Faith, Courage, and Moral Leadership in the Civil Rights Movement Have You Got Good Religion?
