About this deal

This technique gives the story, which I suppose is predominantly created as a romantic comedy, a more serious undertone. Adachi commits to keeping his distance from Kurosawa because his love is too much for him, but a conversation with his boss brings Kurosawa back close. Speaking of things that are funny, David mentions wrestler Brian Danielson talking about floppy penises in the wrestling locker room. Hearing other people's thoughts tends to make his life uncomfortable and awkward, and even his attempt to pay someone to help him lose his virginity goes awry. Now that this issue's been solved, the next volume will be another trope: Adachi being reassigned to a distant office, meaning a separation from Kurosawa, the romantic partner he can't tell his boss about.

He’s not supposed to know, of course, but every time the two are together, Kurosawa’s lovestruck thoughts spill over and shy Adachi just doesn’t know how to react. I think it was probably that the author was doing something with her letters on the Twitter serialization and the letterer was striving to match that intensity, but for me I found it just a bit much. However, we have a potential conflict on the horizon, as it looks like Adachi might be being transferred to another branch of the company.

I thought then Kurosawa overheard Adachi and Tsuge conversation that he was going to find out that way but instead he only heard part of the conversation thus misunderstanding. He is friendly and his good looks makes him popular in the office, but he is also secretly in love with Adachi and often fantasizes about him. While initially freaked out by some of Kurosawa's explicit fantasies about him, Adachi steadily comes to appreciate Kurosawa's support and even starts to reciprocate his feelings.

Adachi’s thought-reading predicament and his shy temperament means that this relationship is going to develop – or not – as a slow burn and that’s no bad thing in terms of character growth and an enjoyable read. The main character of this book is Adachi who develops this power at the beginning of the manga and he finds out that his popular, handsome, and hard working male colleague has a crush on him and this volume is Adachi dealing with those feelings and his new super power. It’s interesting to note that this is her first BL title; the rest of her output is shojo and seinen.Despite the title, it’s about two straight single dads hanging out and making dinner for their kids together. A lot of series that run in Shonen Sunday, where Rumiko Takahashi’s work also runs, tend to be this way.

We’ve actually covered a decent amount of BL manga here on Mangasplaining, though there’s always room for more. Unfortunately for Adachi, taking things nice and slow is out the window when it turns out the two of them are going to be sharing an apartment! He’s maybe one of the last holdovers from old-style, sex-comedy shonen manga that dominated Jump in the 70s and 80s. Toyota described Adachi as "serious and straightforward" while also having a rough life because he lacks self-confidence. While the series has 8 volumes out in English, there’s at least 13 volumes of this series, because volume 13 is getting a release this December, 2023, in Japan. It's also really refreshing to read a cute queer book featuring very-much-adult men; little angst, a lot of things to relate to regarding the tedium of adulting, without taking away the sweetness of budding love. When Adachi hit age 30, for some reason his virginity suddenly gave him the ability to read the minds of anyone he touched.

The first two chapters are domestic scenes, including Kurosawa reminiscing about his childhood, how he and Adachi first met and in which we also get some rather touching new insights into Kurosawa’s feelings about Adachi, revealing a new vulnerable side to the office’s best employee. originated as a 4-page comic that Yuu Toyota posted on her Twitter and Pixiv accounts in January 2018.November 2020 (Episode 7): Highly anticipating the bench-conversation-Kurosawa-being-imperfect scene. And those AUs are, in part, incredibly entertaining to me solely because I am a sex-averse asexual who deserves magic powers within the next few years, please and thank you. Once back in the office, he asks his younger colleague Rokkaku (who was in the same dance club at college with Minato) if he’s had any news of the dancer recently – but all that Rokkaku knows is that Minato’s out of Tokyo. I bought this manga because I saw pictures of the live action drama on Tumblr and I became interested in the premise, especially with the unusual name that this manga has.
