I'm not sure any kids today (yikes, I sound old) would like this book, but an old soul would probably find it quite endearing.

Dust Jackets are not guaranteed and when still present, they will have various degrees of tear and damage. This book is in good+ condition - ex-library with library borrowing sheet and markings on rfep; two markings (about an inch long) from sticky tape on ffep; small library stamp opposite contents page; slight lean to spine; text clean and bright. These cookies help provide information on metrics the number of visitors, bounce rate, traffic source, etc. The idea of having Rosemary turn into a witch herself (albeit a good one, which is not suggested as possible in the book) could have been an interesting spin-off for a subsequent series. The children are allowed to choose a present from a box of Miss Dibdin’s party crackers, and Rosemary picks an odd one that has a witch’s hat and a “Golden Gee-Gaw” (a magic ring) inside it.A delightful story for those who like impossible things to happen in a humdrum world…The children are lively, the grown-ups (including the witch) colourful and the mingling of magic and reality is most effective. Then one day when I was 9, my father brought home a "new book" s-f novel from the library, 'Sixth Column' by Robert A. I think I read The Kingdom of Carbonel first and then Carbonel (My copy, a puffin version with the same picture as in here but slightly rearranged text, doesn't mention a subtitle.

The comic book and the public library editions told about all the friends the Count had who helped him on his secret missions; but the uncut version said why he had so many friends; he got them hooked on free hashish!All through the novel we had rooted for the dear old broom, who gave her all to help her three friends to regain Carbonel’s rightful throne. Carbonel has been summoned to the presence of the Great Cat - who would guard his kingdom and royal kittens while he was away?

Brown has to take in mending and other sewing work to earn money, and even so, she has to work much harder than Rosemary likes. The story's themes and manner has shades of Edith Nesbitcoursing through it with a touch of magic blended into the everyday. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.This shows that they really must be quite poor, to not own an up-to-date sewing machine, which was a basic item in the mid-1950s — especially bearing in mind that this is the way Mrs. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending the kids getting involved in and likely changing the outcome of Carbonel's final battle to take back his kingdom but it was a fun read and I will seek out the other two to see where it goes from here.
